Interesting how almost every role suggested above has been picked at least once (except for Romeo).

Leo makes better choices as an actor than any actor working today. Brilliant.

Really hard to choose but I picked Frank Wheeler in Revolutionary Road.

This is really fuckin hard, if i must i'll go with Howard Hughes in The Aviator.

I think every one of em is great but I think I enjoyed him in the aviator the most.

With Django around the corner I think it's time we bump this shit up!

As for Performance, I think his best is in The Departed.

Updated the poll with Calvin Candie (Django)

Still Howard Hughes for me, he was beyond brilliant there and, imo, would have deserved the Oscar more than Jamie Foxx.

I have to still say Arnie Grape, followed by Howard Hughes, but Calvin Candie is easily his third best. For the purpose of the polls I voted Candie so as to show some love to that performance.

I'm actually very suprised DiCaprio's performance hasn't gotten more attention. He was really good and deserved much more praise.

He was very good, but it was also "only" the film's third-best performance.

Second-best for me. I'm not that big of a fan of Jackson's performance like most here.

As a performance, he totally immerses himself into the role. Yeah, the film also has two other dynomite performances, but it doesn't take away from his own. And yes, it is true, he really does only steal one steal, which isn't so much as that he steals it as much as the scene is squarely about him (the dinner scene), but going back re-watching the film, he gives the performance such subtlties and the role is so vastly different than anything he's done before that I would place it up there with his three best performances.

In the Departed, he's good, if a little a whiney, I would call it, maybe his fourth best though, but there is honestly a huge hap between this performance and his top three, in fact, I would probably place his performances in Inception, which was generic, and Catch Me If You Can, which honestly has no faults, but simply isn't overly impressive, above his acting in the Departed.

And then his performances in Titanic and Gangs of New York are another whole league down.
