Cellular
CellularQuote: Cellular is a 2004 thriller film directed by David R. Ellis and starring Kim Basinger and Chris Evans. The screenplay was written by Chris Morgan, Larry Cohen (who also scripted Phone Booth, another film that evolves from a phone call) and J. Mackye Gruber (uncredited.) A fun action movie. One of the better surprises of 2004. B-

The somewhat ridiculous plot is overcome by some really great nail-biting moments and action sequences. A great suspense thriller/popcorn movie.

I found myself enthralled by this film. It was action packed, and although the plot is simple, and a bit ridiculous, it is an entertaining flick, that kept me interested throughout. Most of the actors are very good including Kim Basinger, William H. Macy, and Jason Statham. Chris Evans is okay, but could of been better. The action is great, and the movie starts with a bang, which is very effective for this kind of film. I really love a film that can get me interested right when it begins. It's very unpredictable the way the film unfolds, and there are plenty of surprises to be had. I can honestly say I enjoyed this film immensely, and it is held together perfectly by its performers, despite its simplistic plot.

The most underrated and overlooked movie of 2004. You can really feel for the characters, and there is a lot of suspense.

It's definetely not as good as I thought it was going to be, just by reading the premise I really wanted to see it, but the trailer didn't look too good. Thankfully, the movie wasn't absolutely terrible, it was just a fun little movie.
7/10 (B-)

Great pure action. This movie kicked my ass. Great thrills, good humor (the lawyer was hilarious), and a surprisingly well-done screenplay, for a thriller movie anyway. Great characters, and the performances from everyone were good. Not much of a resolution on his relationship with Chloe, and I'd like a bit more closure at the end for Jessica and Ryan. Overall, one of the best films you could get if you just want striahgt popcorn fare nail-biting thrills. B+

Ya know this really is a really great film that has rewatchability through the roof, i've seen this film soooo many times, even just watching bits and pieces I can get into it.
It's just an action packed ride that never slows down.

The movie is a cinematic equivalent to fast food. It is nothing special at all, yet you can't help, but enjoy it. It is so much fun and it never ever slows down.

Any movie that lets William H. Macy be an action hero is going to be fun. Very Entertaining! B.

Cellular: Worth Picking Up!
Though essentially a B-movie, Cellular is a clearly the work of someone with a brain in their head. This thriller kept moving throughout and was very well structured and written. The acting was good, though I found Kim Bassinger's sultry voice to be inappropriate to the tension at times. Very enjoyable!
4 out of 5.

I hardly remember anything about this movie other than regretting that I was seeing it in theaters. It felt like some sort of concoction the WB cooked up, ridiculously unbelievable, and Kim Basinger annoyed the crap out of me. I give it a C.

I wish they made more well-made B-movies like this.
The studios need a farm team system to give young up and coming writers and directors a modest B-budget and let them show their stuff.
Imagine if they used the $260m spent on Superman Returns to let 10 young guns make fast paced genre movies like Cellular...

I kinda hated it. And I, too, can not really remember actually seeing it, even though I did in theaters.

Ummmm. Yeah. I wanted to see this movie for years. I heard only good stuff about it. But I was left completely disappointed. It's a ridiculous movie. There's no other way to describe it.

Re: Cellular
Hmm, it's been quite some time since I've seen it, I remember loving it. I don't think I recall anything too ridiculous besides the initial "kidnapped women puts back together a phone and the guy she dials believes her."

Re: Cellular
I thought the action sequences were overblown for this type of a movie (especially the whole car wreckage Ryan caused on the highway) and way outside of possibilities for the main character who is supposed to be a college student I'm guessing.
Also I digged how those attic scenes with Jessica seemed very Hitchcockian in execution and I thought that the whole movie would benefit if Ryan's part were small scale in action but more tight, thrillerish and tense just to keep that Hitchcockian spirit throughout. Though the whole ending on the pier and in the boathouse kinda finally manages to give Ryan's scenes that effect too, but it was too little too late for me.
