I wouldn't be surprised by a $20m+ OW in China. The movie has the advantage of being a joint production in which a Chinese studio has a major stake. The same goes with Iron Man 3, which will likely break some major bo records upon release there.

"The foreign theatrical circuit received a long overdue box office jolt on the weekend as Taken 2 took off at cinemas in 50 overseas markets, generating an estimated $55.2 million.
The sequel to 2008’s kidnapping thriller, Taken 2 pulled $39.2 million from 28 offshore territories handled by Twentieth Century Fox and an estimated $16 million from 22 markets handled by the film’s coproducer, Luc Besson’s EuropaCorp.
The action title reprises Liam Neeson, Maggie Grace and Famke Janssen in costarring roles. It began its international run last round in South Korea – and currently stands as Fox’s biggest release of the year in that market with a cume of $13.8 million -- and has thus far compiled a total foreign gross of $67 million.
Taken 2 opened No. 1 in at least a dozen foreign territories including the U.K. ($12.1 million including previews at 807 sites), Australia ($8.2 million at 365 locales, Fox’s biggest market opening of 2012) and Mexico ($2.55 million at 761 situations). In France via EuropaCorp, it took the No. 1 spot by generating $8.4 million at some 480 spots.
The film opens this week in another eight markets via Fox including Italy and Greece. EuropaCorp will open the picture in Germany.
Looper, last week’s No. 1 foreign title, opened over the weekend in six markets – Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Bulgaria, Romania and Denmark. The No. 6 Germany bow generated an estimated $1.25 million (including previews) from some 329 locations. In Austria, the film opened No. 5, grossing an estimated $85,000 from 29 sites while the film’s Denmark bow elicited $131,000, according to Filmnation Entertainment, which is handling Looper’s foreign distribution.
Full take from the full 19 territories won’t be immediately known since the firm China results won’t arrive until later in the week. Early Filmnation estimates put the overall weekend take – minus China – at about $10 million. Official reporting of the missing figure from that market have been delayed by local observance of the seven-day Golden Week holiday period
The time-traveling thriller directed and written by Rian Johnson’s and costarring Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Bruce Willis grossed an estimated $2.7 million in its second round in the U.K., sufficient for a No. 2 market ranking. It finished No. 4 in its second Australia round, registering an estimated $1.8 million at 217 situations.
New to the foreign circuit this round was Universal’s release of Pitch Perfect, a comedy with music about the competitive antics of an all-girl college singing group. A No. 4 opening in New Zealand generated $480,000. The film debuts in the Philippines and Taiwan this week.
After 18 frames on the foreign circuit, DreamWorks Animation’s Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted continues to chug along, generating $23.3 million on the weekend at 2,453 locations in 29 markets. A No. 1 opening in Germany accounted for the higher gross this round, contributing $15.4 million from 740 venues. A first place ranking in Austria added $1.3 million at 81 locations. Overseas gross total now stands at $451 million, with a Oct. 19 U.K. opening to round out the film’s foreign run.
Sony Pictures Animation’s Hotel Transylvania drew $13.1 million from at 2,985 screens in 22 markets, lifting its early foreign cume to $29.3 million. A No. 1 Brazil debut for the family animation outing in 3D delivered $2.9 million from 397 spots.
A No. 1 Spain opening for Resident Evil: Retribution ($1.6 million at 459 locales) helped boost the film’s weekend take to $12.3 million from 5,560 sites in 66 markets. That brings the total overseas gross for the fifth title in director-producer Paul S.W. Anderson’s action/sci-fi series starring Milla Jovovich to $159.7 million, putting the sequel $77 million shy of the foreign franchise record ($236.1 million) set by 2010’s Resident Evil: Afterlife.
The latest Resident Evil is being distributed in most foreign markets by Sony, which has tallied a cume of $146.5 million. The other principal distributor is the film’s German coproducer Constantin.
Ted, director Seth MacFarlane’s comedy-fantasy starring Mark Wahlberg, was buoyed by three openings, especially a solid, $3.9 million bow at 356 sites in Italy. Overall, the film registered $12 million on the weekend at 3,000 playdates in 45 territories. Ted has grossed a total of $232.9 million overseas thus far with five territories still to open including France and Belgium this week. (Worldwide,Ted has grossed some 450 million.)
Fox’s Ice Age: Continental Drift surpassed the $700 million gross mark overseas ($702.6 million) thanks to a $5.7 million weekend at 822 venues in four markets.
The No. 2 title in France was Warner Bros. France’s release of Les Seigneurs (The Dream Team), director Olivier Dahan’s soccer comedy about veteran players reuniting to assist Brittany fishermen. Second round at 608 screens drew $3.9 million, a 48% drop from the film’s opening market stanza. France cume stands at $13.2 million.
Universal’s The Bourne Legacy pushed its foreign cume to $119.8 million after a $3.4 million weekend at 3,000 playdates in 48 markets.
Other international cumes: Universal’s Savages, $15.9 million; Fox’s Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, $69.8 million; Disney’s Brave, $291 million; Fox’s Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days, $24.2 million; Universal’s Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax, $127.1 million; Fox’s Prometheus, $276.8 million; Disney’s Finding Nemo 3D, $11.6 million; and Fox’s The Watch, $29.6 million.""http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/f ... itt-376960______________________________________________________________________________

That's definitely huge for Taken 2 though the legs won't be as great I believe. It is now guaranteed to surpass the original's $226m WW total so yeah we are seeing a third one for sure.

Re: Intl. Box-Office: Madagascar 3 passes $450 million overs
Madagascar is still doing huge and with UK still to come I think it can sneak past TASM's WW gross.
Ice Age's figure is about $3m less from BOM so according to them it is yet to pass $700m OS, doesn't make much difference in the end. Looks like it won't pass IA3's WW total in the end.
Looper is not faring as well as it could have atleast over OW, hope the legs are good.

Stunner: Summit also got good news from abroad. Awards hopeful The Impossible, starring Naomi Watts and Ewan McGregor as a family caught in the 2004 tsunami in Thailand, opened to record numbers in Spain, where it was financed and produced. Warner Bros., which is distributing the film in Spain (Summit has domestic rights), reports that the film opened to $13.4 million, the largest three-day and four-day debut of all time. Impossible is an Apaches Entertainment and Telecinco Cinema. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/b ... rgo-378852

Beating the record is still impressive considering how weak the Spanish b.o. has been the last couple of years because of the recession...

"Taking the top foreign box office spot for the second weekend in a row, Taken 2 took $41 million from more than 50 foreign markets, pushing its overseas gross total to $132.8 million.
The action sequel starring Liam Neeson, Maggie Grace and Famke Janssen remained the U.K.’s No. 1 title ($6 million from 779 locations for a local cume of $23.4 million) in its second market round, and drew $4 million in its second China round at 1,500 situations for a market cume of $10.8 million.
Taken 2’s second Australia session grossed $3.7 million at 367 spots, lifting the market cume to $13.7 million. Its Italy open scored $1.25 million at 267 situations.
Twentieth Century Fox is distributing the film in 35 markets (earning $28.5 million from 6,314 spots) while the film’s coproducer, Luc Besson’s EuropaCorp, is handling the rest including this weekend’s No. 1 bow in France and a No. 2 finish in Germany ($3.8 million).
Frankenweenie, director-coproducer-coscripter Tim Burton’s comedy animation with horror overtones, which has grossed $22 million over two frames in the U.S. and Canada, opened offshore in nine markets this round, collecting $4.9 million on the weekend. Early offshore cume for the Disney release stands at $5.3 million.
The weekend’s biggest single-market smash by far was Warner Bros. Espana’s release in Spain of Lo Impossible (The Impossible), director Juan Antonio Bayona’s action adventure costarring Naomi Watts and Ewan McGregor and a nasty Indian Ocean tsunami. Opening round drew $13.4 million (including previews) from 638 screens, easily the market’s No. 1 title. Warner’s said it may be Spain’s biggest three-day and four-day opener of all time.
Opening No. 2 in France ($2.8 million at 348 spots) was Universal’s Ted, which grossed $13.9 million on the weekend at 2,900 playdates in 44 markets. Overseas cume stands at $250.5 million while the worldwide take, at $469 million, makes Seth MacFarlane’s comedy fantasy starring Mark Wahlberg the biggest grossing R-rated comedy of all time.
Sony Animation’s Hotel Transylvania opened in second place in the U.K. ($2.9 million at 704 venues), and drew $13.7 million on the weekend overall at 3,560 locations in 24 territories. The family animation outing in 3D has grossed $49.3 million so far overseas.
Hanging in as Germany’s No. 1 title was DreamWorks Animation/Paramount’s Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted, which in its second market sessiongenerated $6.3 million at 740 sites, a modest drop of 28% from the market opener. Weekend as a whole delivered $10.4 million from 2,360 situations in 29 countries, thus elevating the film’s foreign gross total to $465.2 million.
Endgame Entertainment’s Looper continued its foreign rollout, opening in a dozen territories on the weekend and playing in a total of 3,800 sites in 31 markets. The time-traveling thriller costarring Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Bruce Willis is expected to gross more than $9 million offshore, excluding returns from the China markets.
Looper has collected $16.7 million since it opened in China on Sept. 28, but the latest market numbers won’t be known until later this week. Looper’s total foreign gross is put at about $58 million, pushing the film’s worldwide gross past the $100-million market tallied in 17 days.
With Resident Evil: Retribution’s foreign cume standing at $171.1 million, Paul S.W. Anderson’s fifth franchise installment starring Milla Jovovich has still to gross a total of $65 million to go to catch up to the action/sci-fi series’ overseas box office champ, 2010’s Resident Evil: Afterlife, which tallied $236.1 million. Retribution’s weekend take was $5.8 million from 3,210 sites in 65 markets.
Pushing past the $700-million foreign box office market was Fox’s animation smash Ice Age: Continental Drift, which grossed $3.3 million at 721 spots in four markets. That weekend action elevated the film’s foreign gross to $707 million.
Best grossing newcomer to the France market was Wild Bunch Distribution’s Dans Les Maison, director Francois Ozon’s thriller costarring Frabrice Luchini and Kristin Scott Thomas. Opening round drew an estimated $2.3 million from some 350 sites, sufficient for a No. 4 market ranking.
Other international cumes: Universal’s Savages, $19.2 million; Fox’s Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, $71.5 million; Universal’s The Bourne Legacy, $124.2 million; Disney’s Finding Nemo 3D, $13 million over five rounds; Universal’s ParaNorman, $36.7 million; Fox’s Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days, $25.7 million; Pixar/Disney’s Brave, $294.2 million; and Universal’s Pitch Perfect, $1.3 million."http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/f ... ted-378856_____________________________________________________________________________

Re: Intl. Box-Office: Taken 2 hits $200 million worldwide!
Taken 2 is doing great as expected in OS markets. With no competition till Skyfall it should have good legs till end of October which I believe should be enough for $200m OS total and $300m+ WW total. HUGE success for Neeson. The WOM among general audience seems to be okish definitely not as good as the original but still not overall poor.
Madagascar 3 and Ice Age 4 are still chugging along as there aren't many high profile animation movies.
Did Expendables 2 cross $300m WW total mark ?

With that number last weekend I don't think it would have reached $300m WW total. It would need an opening in few small markets to reach that mark.

I think it's well over 300 million at this point, not by much, but a decent amount.
On September 26th, it had an incomplete weekend take of 203 million coming off an incomplete 12.4 million weekend. Even conservatively I'd put it at 225 million overseas.

Re: Intl. Box-Office: Taken 2 hits $200 million worldwide!
The numbers are so inconsistent it is hard to tell. I was going by BOM numbers and they have updates till 9th October for $204m OS and $289m WW total. I am not saying they are correct but then again with mark's update of $211m OS total with just $3.6m weekend (before) I don't think it would have made the needed $5m OS with Taken 2 opening unless it did open newly in some market. Regardless it will reach the mark soon.

Taken 2 is a beast
Overwhelming run for Mad 3 and Ice Age 4
Despite of having a disappointing performance OS, Brave is near to cross the 300m, not that bad after all
