 Re: August 3-5 Predictions
Oh man, I don't have a good feeling about Total Recall and with its rumored $200 million budget (who the fuck agred to that?!), any opening below $40 million would be terrible for it...
I think Diary of a Wimply Kid can break $20 million in its opening aain. The series seems popular.

 Re: August 3-5 Predictions
I'm not feeling any excitement for Total Recall, though I want to see it. Diary of a Wimpy Kid should stay pretty even with previous films.
Total Recall - 25M Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days - 20M
Though it wouldn't surprise me in Diary of a Wimpy Kid opened higher than Total Recall.

 Re: August 3-5 Predictions
Total Recall has a budget over $200 million? Boy did they fuck up.
Total Recall - $22.5 million Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days - $17.8 million
The Dark Knight Rises -39% The Watch -54% Step Up: Revolution -64%
Another pretty mediocre weekend. August 10 should be exciting though.

 Re: August 3-5 Predictions
Honestly I'm not feeling any of the openers. Recall's marketing has been really aggressive, but it feels like no one actually cares. I have seen only a handful of tv spots for Wimpy Kid, but the buzz seemes to be MUCH weaker than the previous movies.
Total Recall - $21M Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days - $16M
I'm just hoping for a good drop for TDKR this weekend.

 Re: August 3-5 Predictions
Its a disaster to allow TR to anchor such a key weekend when the weekend after is too crowded with potential hits.
TR - $25m DWK - $23m

 Re: August 3-5 Predictions
The Chronicles of Riddick's opening adjusts to 30 million. Might be the best-case number for Total Recall.

 Re: August 3-5 Predictions
I wonder if Total Recall truly cost 200 million. I'm hoping this is just an error. Don't Sony tend be relatively frugal, staying within a range of 75 to 120 million even for major movies?

 Re: August 3-5 Predictions
Idk, David.
"Recall" feels like it's a decade too late, and reminds me too much of Minority Report & I, Robot.

 Re: August 3-5 Predictions
I don't agree. I hope futuristic sci-fi action movies are always produced. They might not always be as good as Blade Runner or Minority Report, but I enjoy the genre.

I think the Total Recall trailers have been solid (and they've been attached to almost everything I see) but the cast just screams bomb.

 Re: August 3-5 Predictions
I never noticed it before, but Jessica Biel has indeed been in more than her fair share of flops and soft performers. Blade: Trinity, Stealth, Elizabethtown, Home of the Brave, Next, The A-Team, New Year's Eve...

 Re: August 3-5 Predictions
Yeah, Jessica Biel is kind of stealth box office poison. I ain't feeling too sorry for her, though, she gets to go home to Justin Timberlake every day.

 Re: August 3-5 Predictions
I hope TR breaks out. I mean, it's a tentpole, like it or not. Hope it dethrones TDKR so the loonies stop holding on to their excuses. Or even WK3. Would be awful to open to only $22m like some are predicting. Even worse than the awful looking JC, DS and BS? But maybe Aurora's killed August. How fucking sad.
