 THE BOURNE LEGACY predictions
I'm surprised there's no thread yet... Anyway, here's the first preview: http://trailers.apple.com/trailers/univ ... rnelegacy/

 Re: THE BOURNE LEGACY predictions
Good trailer, but I don't think this will open that big. It's somewhat strange to watch this without Matt Damon showing up, but I like the look of Renner in the leading role and he can definitely kick alot of ass on his own. Personally I'm not even a fan of these movies, but I would watch this just for Renner and Norton.

 Re: THE BOURNE LEGACY predictions
Such a curious project. They made a Bourne movie without Matt Damon... The trailer is good. Renner is a cool actor whose capital is obviously high after The Town and Ghost Protocol. The supporting cast, including Norton, is excellent. But, still. No matter how many times they say Treadstone, and despite the clever "There was never only one" tagline, a Matt Damon-less Bourne movie is still a bit bizarre. The CIA/assassin-gone-rogue milieu is familiar to moviegoers; it was investment in Damon's character and his journey which made the first three films huge. For now, I'll say: 27/88

 Re: THE BOURNE LEGACY predictions
Trailer actually looks really good, but I still have my doubts about people accepting a Bourne movie without Jason Bourne in it. Sub-75 million for now.

With that awesome new trailer out I'll say 47/138 for now.

 Re: THE BOURNE LEGACY predictions
The trailer makes me more confident it won't slip to badly. Could change for better or worse with a 2nd. I wouldn't be surprised with a 60m open.

 Re: THE BOURNE LEGACY predictions
The trailer was well cut but I seriously didn't like and I was really impressed with all the trailers of Bourne movies even when I wasn't really following BO. I don't see anything great but these movies have been really famous so I see a good opening and then poorer legs.
Little higher than the originals opening and then poor legs $30-$33m/$100m-$105m

 Re: THE BOURNE LEGACY predictions
The trailer reactions are decent and while it should make over $100m+ total, I don't think it can open much more than $40m.

 Re: THE BOURNE LEGACY predictions
I expect it will perform like a solid thriller but not like a Bourne film. In the trailer thread people were like "it's nice that they mention Jason Bourne" but they have to in order to justify the title. The question is whether some will feel ripped off, go to see it and expect Damon.
Probably around 125m domestic? Something like that.

 Re: THE BOURNE LEGACY predictions
This needs a new trailer, IMO. The one they're playing isn't very exciting.

 Re: THE BOURNE LEGACY predictions
I think $100-$120m is in play pending how its received.
If this can do well enough, the next film that may potentially team up Renner and Damon could be quite huge.

 Re: THE BOURNE LEGACY predictions
The Bourne Identity's opening adjusts to over $36 million now. No way this opens below $45 million.

 Re: THE BOURNE LEGACY predictions
I'm hoping it grosses over $100M DOM but it doesn't seem that it will as it will likely get overshadowed by TDKR and The Campaign.
OW: $28 million Total: $85 million

Plus, the runtime of over two hours has already ruined its potential to breakout. If Aaron Cross was actually Jason Bourne's brother, meaning his last name was Bourne instead of that, it could've done better business. Still, a Bourne movie without Damon and Jason will prevent "Bourne" fans to see it in theaters.

That would be pretty fucking awful, but honestly I wouldn't be too suprised by a sub $30M opening at this point. I mean it's a Bourne movie without Bourne which probably won't make much sense to casual moviegoers. The marketing has been good, but it just doesn't feel like there is much intrest in it. The fact that The Expendables 2 comes out a week later could also hurt it ALOT if general audiences especially action fans decide to save their money for something that looks more appealing and that doesn't hold back.

I'd be very disappointed with 35m.
