Post Your favorite non-Lecter Anthony Hopkins performance?
Well, Hopkins is one of my favorite actors around. Obviously, if I had just asked for his best performancer to date, around 90% of the answers would have said "Hannibal Lecter". Thus, I decided to exlude that from the poll, especially considering that he has had many other great turns in his career.

From what I've seen so far, this is how I'd rank my favorite three of them:

1. Burt Munro (The World's Fastest Indian)
2. James Stevens (The Remains of the Day)
3. Ted Crawford (Fracture)

I have yet to see Nixon, though.

Three way tie between Titus in Titus, Burt in The World's Fastest Indian, and Robert in Proof (a criminally under-rated film!!! )...

I voted William Parrish in Meet Joe Black. But surprisingly I haven't seen a lot of movies from the poll.

I thought about putting Robert on the poll too, but it was already very crowded, so...

I seem to remember that you were one of the few here underwhelmed by that great film...

Indeed, I didn't like it too much (gave it a B-, though). I also said, however:

"Anthony Hopkins delivered the best performance of the cast"

I will go with Nixon on the list.

But as his Lecter screen time in Silence was only about 15 minutes, he has lots of great other roles that could be considered: Zorro, Dracula, Chaplin, Proof, Magic, Aurdey Rose and The Elephant Man.

Just a great actor.

I'd probably pick Van Helsing in Dracula, if only you'd put it in the poll!

I personally love Hopkins but to be honest on the lack of votes, how many of the movies in the poll even did well at the Box Office and they don't include some of the better choices like: Zorro, Dracula, Chaplin, Proof, Magic, Audrey Rose and The Elephant Man. So I can see the lack of interest. Good try though.

Better choices?

So his roles in Dracula and Zorro are suposedly better choices than, say, his roles in World's Fastest Indian, Remains of the Day or Howards End?

I think the problem is that you listed a few of the movies most of the site or mainstream audiences havent really seen. I havent seen stuff like Howards End or the Fastest Indian to make a judgement. I did see stuff like Zorro etc so I can see why theres not that much interest because of the fact that theres a body of work people havent seen

Understandable.

If rather sad, though :P

You should really check out World's Fastest Indian. Not only for Hopkins' performance.

The Remains of the Day, followed by Meet Joe Black, Nixon, Bram Stoker's Dracula, and The Lion in Winter

I've never understood the hatred of Meet Joe Black, to be honest. I love it. It's ambitious, elegant, romantic, and poignant. Hopkins is wonderful here:

It's not often that we agree, but this is definitely one of those cases.
