Loooove the music and everyone seems to be having fun. When you ignore the paper-thin plot and off the charts cheese factor, it's easy to enjoy. B

Also, Tom Cruise can actually sing. Who knew.

How were they supposed to signify they "gave a fuck" (positively or negatively) when the Total Recall trailer played? Did you give an informal poll?

Do random trailers regularly receive cheers and screams and orgasmic reactions where you are? I see a lot of movies in theatres every year, and unless it's a broad comedy trailer playing to a crowd or a new, hotly anticipated teaser in front of a midnight or opening-night showing, reactions to trailers are almost always muted.

Nope, people werent even watcihng the screen, we were all chatting during the trailers, unlike TDKR where the whole theater was SILENT and everyone started talking right after it ended, and everyone near me was saying how awesome it looks

I agree with this.

They routinely receive -- at the very least -- loud chatter whenever my audiences are interested in a film. It's odder for the crowd to sit stone-faced and silent than to make some sort of reaction.

Perhaps Maryland and D.C. crowds are more subdued.

I'm not saying I've never heard crowds react to trailers. But when people post these specific trailer-by-trailer reports, as if they have their finger directly on the pulse of the collective, I just half to wonder. "400 people. No one gave a fuck when the Spider-Man trailer played. Everyone was still wildly discussing the Batman trailer." Sounds realistic.

Don't you live in LA and go to like the archlight or landmark to packed premieries and shows all the time? Where I'm at there's rarely more than a little chatter during trailers, laughs at comedies sure, but it's not easy to distinguish what an audience thinks of a trailer at my theater.

I saw Safety Not Guaranteed and Your Sister's Sister today. Mark Duplass double feature.

Safety Not Guaranteed at 3:30 was 80-85% full. Your Sister's Sister at 7:40 was sold out. Both in smaller rooms.

Trailers were mostly the same. A mix of 5 Broken Cameras, Beasts of the Southern Wild, A Cat in Paris, Elena, Nobody Else but You, Take This Waltz, Trishna, and Whores' Glory.

Yeah, I rarely post trailer reactions with crowd reports because there usually isn't any. Most of the time people don't say much. Unless a comedy trailer gets a ton of laughs or something gets cheers and claps you really have no idea if people are interested in seeing the movie.

I bounce back and forth from L.A. and Omaha pretty frequently and the reactions are pretty similar in both.
