Re: NHL 2011-12 Season
Hasek is probably the best regular season goalie ever (he won six Vezinas!), but the fact that he only has two Cups, and only one as a starter, hurts him.

And he had to go to Detroit to do it. We win every cup!

!
We got lucky. Don't know how this plays out. Inside, I think the Caps are a different team, but they've messed up Game 7 too many times in recent memory.

Hate to be The Jinx... but they fought back in Round 1 after being down 3 games to 2.

Don't think you can jinx it...it is what it is.
We'll see what happens.
My meaningless advice to the Caps: don't overthink it -- and don't be too afraid to attack offensively when you have a decent lead

Re: NHL 2011-12 Season
Woah, what happened to the high from yesterday's win?
It feels like it. I think our luck runs out against the Rangers. I'm not implying that we're winning by luck...rather, we've won the last two series against them -- and things need to even out somewhere.
That said, maybe our bad luck runs out -- we finally get into Round 3.
Who knows. Anticipation sucks. Can't they bump the game up to this afternoon?
Non-Caps fans...what do you think of the series?

Re: NHL 2011-12 Season
I think I said the exact thing in the thread earlier.
It's just one game. I think odds are 50/50. Maybe slightly in the Rangers' favor given home advantage. In a tight series like this, Game 7 is going to be dictated by mental strength -- and we just have no way of knowing how our boys will respond to the game's subtleties.
Like you, I dismissed the Game 6 win ahead of it even happening, knowing fully that I'd be re-energized if they won it despite impending heartbreak. But, honestly, now that they've put it in print? It feels good. Like they've already topped prior year performances just by coming back from every tight loss. Whether they're the strong ones -- or New York was just playing 'easy' -- well, we just gotta wait and see what hockey Jesus has in store.
I hope that they're confident. If I were assessing play over the course of the full-series, I'd give the Caps 75% of credit and the Rangers 25%.

Re: NHL 2011-12 Season
Coworker was joking about how today's Sportscenter had something on Ovechkin living with his parents. My search doesn't suggest that it has gone viral. Anyone know?

Re: NHL 2011-12 Season
The Devils barely beat the Panthers and then took advantage of a Flyers team that used up everything beating the Penguins.
I think whoever wins the Rangers/Caps series is going to the finals, but that's mostly because I'd hate to see the Devils there.

Re: NHL 2011-12 Season
But it's going to be Devils/Kings, right?? I know trix disagrees but the Rangers looked so defeatable today...in a Game 7 at home where you should be giving 100%. Not that I like Jersey more.

Re: NHL 2011-12 Season
Henri can only do so much. And the caps really didn't play well. Yes, they were better offensively than NY, but NY looked like shit! Holtby shouldve made the saves.
I just didn't get this game. Did anyone on our team shine? It wasn't the cop-out Game 7 was against Pens or Montreal, but still
Fuck.

Henrik, not Henri. He's Swedish, not French-Canadian.
Kings in six and Rangers in seven.

Kings in six and Rangers in seven. So, Coyotes vs. Devils in the final.

I'm waiting for the SCF. I just don't think it's as easy as they're making it look, but maybe it will be.
