Pitt lost in six. But yeah, still shocking. Even San Jose losing in the first round, even though they were the seventh seed, is sort of surprising, as they had made the conference finals the last two years.

Re: NHL 2011-12 Season
Pitt lost in three games, but yes, I forgot they won two and not one.
I think everyone forgets that playoff hockey makes season stats meaningless. Being 8th-seeded doesn't mean you come in with a disadvantage. That applies to teams as well. I can't imagine that the Pens didn't go into this thinking they had it all sewn up because they beat Philly twice in the last five years in the playoffs.

The West semifinals are gonna be horribly boring.

What will the NHL do to avoid a Florida/Phoenix Finals?
That. Would. Be. Awful.

That. Would. Be. Awful. Any of the West teams against FLA, NJ, or OTT = ratings disaster IMO. Nashville/Florida and Phoenix/Florida would definitely be the funniest though

Part of me wants the Rangers gone. Part of me wants to see a playoffs this early on without a Canadian team.

Oh well. Bruins had a solid run. And the team is still quite young. Great series. Just didn't go the B's way. Congrats Torr and Magnus!

Re: NHL 2011-12 Season
The NHL really needs the Rangers, Devils and Flyers to keep on going for as long as possible. They've pretty much lost all of their big market cities in this first round. It's good for variety, but not for TV ratings.

All the heavy contenders are being bounced out of the 1st round. LOL
Just need Ottawa and Florida to win tomorrow and the NHL's dreaded nightmare Stanley Cup lineup comes to fruition.

What an irritating series to watch. Tim Thomas is a douche. I can't see him the same after finding out he's a Glenn Beck worshipping Obama hater. It's one thing to have your views, but when you get invited to the White House, you fuckin' go. What a baby.

Re: NHL 2011-12 Season
Couldn't people have been a little creative in their racism? Like "Boy, I bet Joel Ward is the envy of all the other (two) black hockey players today!"
Or "God, that Joel Ward is such an N-word... a nincompoop!"
But yeah, hard to believe the racism festering under the surface for a lot of people. Not a lot, I guess... just seems that way when you see it all in one spot like that.

Stay classy, Bruins fans. 38 people? That's it? I'm (happily) surprised there wasn't more. And it doesn't seem like all of them were B's fans. Or over the age of 17.

Re: NHL 2011-12 Season
Rangers/Capitals
Who I'm picking: Rangers in 6 Who I want to win: Capitals
In order to beat Lundqvist the Capitals are going to need a lot more production, especially out of Ovie. 20 minutes of ice time isn't going to cut it again. If he gets going and Holtby continues to play out of his mind then the Caps have a chance. I think the Rangers are too good defensively though. Then again, one could make the argument that the refs handed the Rangers Game 6 in Ottawa. If they don't get a gift power play, Ottawa might have been able to pull that game off. Probably not, but you never know. And the Rangers never seem to do well in the playoffs against the Capitals.
Flyers/Devils
Who I'm picking: Flyers in 5 Who I want to win: Don't care. It all depends on the Rangers/Capitals. If the Caps win, I want the Devils, since I'm a Bruins fan and hate the Flyers. If the Rangers win I want the Flyers, because that matchup would fucking rock to see, as a hockey fan. At that point I'd pretty much root for both teams to fuck one another up.
The Flyers pretty much made easy picking of the Penguins. The Devils are a step down from the Pens. The Flyers can't act like they are though. If they don't, they should win easily. And the extra rest, in this case, should help the Flyers.
Predators/Coyotes
Who I'm Picking: Predators in 6 Who I want to win: Predators
Predators are the better team. It's as simple as that. And now that the Bruins are out, I'm jumping on their bandwagon to win it all.
Blues/Kings
Who I'm Picking: Blues in 7 Who I Want to Win: Blues - Because I hate all LA teams that aren't the Clippers, or Dodgers, or Angels, or Kings for that matter. St. Louis hasn't been relevant in hockey for quite some time. It'd be nice to see them do well again.
Great series.

I wonder how hard Bettman is gonna work to ensure a NY/LA final.
