torri? how many times have you seen this movie? Yeah, the broadcast starts hitting that home really hard. BTW, I wonder why Romero forgot about the woman upstairs. I was so sure she was going to come alive and come down the stairs too. He totally forgot about the early attack victim, which is odd considering how much attention is given to her shredded face *ewwwww*
someone ask rogue how he's feelin' about the color version right about now? how's the color? synthetic or natural looking? neo, are you watching this with them right now?

? Rogue thinks this is funny? It seems a bit over the top now, but remeber what year this was, this was probably a pretty new approach no? I thought Italian Zombie flicks were even more over-the-top and had less to do with tension and more to do with costume and makeup? This was pretty scary when you think about it. I think Romero did a decent job by making Barbara so off her rocker that the entire time I thought she was suddenly going to attack Ben or another person in the house.

<RogueCommander> I know I compare it to Dawn of the Dead a lot
<RogueCommander> But I can't help thinking that film was superior
<RogueCommander> Maybe it is just me.

Yeah, got my biblio outline due tuesday too, I'm not doing it righ tnow either. Just looked over the B&P edits you sent me. Thanks dude, you caught alot of my errors. I'm almost afraid to go back to my old reviews and see how bad they are without the second pair of eyes. Thanks so much.
BTW for the whopping four people that come into this forum, Neo and I are now partners in Movie Review writing crime. Say hi to *TeH EdItoR*
Rogue, seems like DotD has a social criticism that NOTLD dead doesn't. This is just an all-out tension horror flick. Its not about anything larger than surviving the night (Unless you count the last 5 minutes as being something else). I think for what it is, he did pretty good. I wasn't bored, but I do see how this doesn't really have any far-reaching power.

<RogueCommander> So let's all smoke now...LoL...Harry Cooper cracks me up
<torrino> Eh
<torrino> I'm falling asleep
<RogueCommander> Yeah me too.
<torrino> Anyways, Rogue
<RogueCommander> Tell Dolce I'm tired.
<torrino> it's good we didn't start at 10:30
<RogueCommander> Tell her next time to pick a better film
<torrino> we'd both be sound asleep in 30 minutes
<RogueCommander> See I told you!!!
<torrino> LOL
<torrino> NOTLD ROCKS
<torrino> SHUT UP

<RogueCommander> Well I am
<RogueCommander> Sorry..but its just not as good
<torrino> its jsut not as good?
<torrino> you really shoulda stuck with the b and w version
<torrino> it would've fit the cornyness better
<torrino>
Edit:
<torrino> copy that, btich
<torrino>
<RogueCommander> Its 1) not as good as I was hoping
<RogueCommander> 2) Not as good as Dawn of the Dead (1978)
<torrino> lol. you just did
<torrino> dawn of the dead is good
<torrino> buuuuut
<torrino> notld was groundbreaking. you've got to understand what horror films were like
then and what they became after notld
<torrino> dawn of the dead didn't DO much for horror films, notld did
Edit:
<RogueCommander> Hmm maybe
<torrino> from the build-up and everything
<RogueCommander> Maybe thats why Dawn was better
<torrino> bleh
<RogueCommander> What build up?
<torrino> no
Edit:
<torrino> how the zombies attack the people
<torrino> in the beginning...
<torrino> laughter leads to horror
<torrino> EVERYTHING
<torrino> has been copied
Edit:
<torrino> EVERYTHING
<torrino> has been copied
<torrino> dawn of the dead was a better movie, but was it more original? nah.
<RogueCommander> True
<RogueCommander> very true there

Bwahahahaha! You guys are cuttin' out early? That's what you get for doing running commentary during a horror film. You can't get into it. And who is blaming me for pickin' it? You guys voted. Anyways, I already have swell ideas for a different style horror for the next one, because I want to keep them varied (every one different).
Hey torri, why is this on your top 100? The entertainment or for fear. I think its pretty tightly directed, and there were some nasty scenes, but I wouldn't say it was the smartest movie on the block.
edit*** X, are you watching it now too?
Rogue, was the color very off?

I'm watching it again and I don't know why it's on my top 100...
It used to be a favorite, but I'm barely watching it now. If I focused, perhaps, but, if it were Rocky Horror, Ferris Bueller, or Say Anything... playing, focusing wouldn't be a problem...
My top 100 is, basically, my 100 favorites. NOTLD is a favorite. It's got great rewatchability. Is it the smartest movie? No. Is it the funniest? No. Is it the scariest? No. But, usually, the B&W doesn't bother me and I'm aaaalways enjoying it.
Ugh. Expect it to be out of my top 100 tomorrow. Last time I watched this was in October...

Perhaps we will find a way to replace it with another horror pick?
Honestly, you guys are giving it a bad rap. I thought it was pretty tight for not being a movie about suspense. Kinda like Collateral, its almost more of a drama. It about the people freaking out and turning in on themselves. How Ben and Harry don't trust eachother, and how much they doubt staying upstairs rather than going downstairs. How Barb is seriously out of it. Geesh, can't believe I'm standing up for it more than you guys. In the end though, it was a well directed movie, and that compensated for the fact that its just not that smart a movie. I won't be watching it again, and I'm surprised you gave it that watchability mark. If I want to watch a domestic situation implode on itself, I'll watch Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf.
Anyone else get to see it? Comments? How'd you all feel?

Yeah, but I saw it coming when they get near the house and shoot everything that's carbon-based life form. I just think he was a bit umb not to try and draw attention to himself first. Announce to them somehow that he was there. The ending was the best part. I don't usually say that, but it was.
