Books You Want To See Adapted To Film
There's this really amazing, beautiful gay-themed book called Call Me By Your Name by Andre Aciman from a few years ago that I would die to see adapted. If done right it could easily be an award-caliber film. Would like to see someone like Tom Ford or Joe Wright direct it. The book made the New York Times' list of the year's Most Notable Books. Such a great and powerful read. I remember having to go to work after finishing it and I was in such a funk for the rest of the day. It ruined my day , but I wouldn't have it any other way. What are some others would like to see?

Stephen King's Cell, off the top of my head. It's been kicking around for a while, but nothing concrete. Would like to see a big screen adaptation.

Re: Books You Want To See Adapted To Film
It'd be such a generic movie, though (the book is generic too).
I'd much rather see Under the Dome, but it is getting a TV miniseries adaptation. I'd love to see it in theatres, though.
Also, where the fuck is the Artemis Fowl franchise? It is one of the bigger fantasy franchises still not adapted in any way.
I want a theatrical adaptation of Stephen King's IT.

Fowl would be very very expensive to do from the get go.

Re: Books You Want To See Adapted To Film
The first book would not be much more expensive than, say, The Spiderwick Chronicles. I agree about the later instalments.

Agnes Grey by Anne Brontë
The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay by Michael Chabon
The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath (There was a mediocre, strange, now very obscure film made in the '70s, but it can be done -so- much better.)
Giovanni's Room by James Baldwin
Life by Keith Richards
My Ántonia by Willa Cather
The Raw Shark Texts by Steven Hall
Saturday by Ian McEwan
Slam by Nick Hornby
The Unconsoled by Kazuo Ishiguro

Re: Books You Want To See Adapted To Film
Slam could be good. We need more good Nick Hornby adaptations. High Fidelity and About a Boy were really well-done. Not so much the American Fever Pitch version.

I'm surprised there haven't been more Hornby adaptations. They are perfect blueprints for crowd-pleasing, smart entertainments.

If done with intelligence, humor, and showmanship, a PG-13 Goosebumps movie, drawing on different entries in the franchise, could be fun. Goosebumps arouses major nostalgia in me, and I'm sure it does for many others, too.

I want a theatrical adaptation of Stephen King's IT. I love me my zombie movies. I do acknowledge that Cell is not the best of the theatrically unadapted King stories.

The Cell almost got a movie a few years ago with Eli Roth. When he pulled out of it, it fell apart. I am not sure if we will ever see it happen now. I would pick Dark Tower since it is one of my favorite King books, although I think it would be better served as a TV series. I am pretty sure King's newest book about time travel is going to be a movie. Can't remember who bought the rights to it. As for fantasy, it is too bad the Wheel of Time took a nose dive in the latter books. The first four books were very good, but the later books are so slow that I am not sure if they could be adapted.

Since they're making my favorite book, Enders Game, into a movie... IT BETTER NOT SUCK.
I really would enjoy Stotan! as a movie.

Manifold: Space. Budget would be utterly loopy though, and it would likely work better as a mini series.

The Analyst by John Katzenbach, pretty much an epic thriller.

Re: Books You Want To See Adapted To Film
Astropolis Trilogy by Sean Williams. If adapted right those could be genius sci-fi movies. But they would be very hard to film. They basically require a handful of people but there are multiple versions of mostly everyone in the book. It would be a bitch adapting it and filming it.

I do recall Artmes Fowl was caught up in the Weinstein/Miramax demise back in the mid 00s. Not sure what happened after that though.

I admit that, even after posting in this thread twice, I just misread the title as "Boobs You Want To See Adapted To Film".
