I'm mad she doesn't have box office estimates for the Christmas releases yet. WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR, NIKKI.

Yet here you and many others are, commenting on the numbers, giving her website hits and exposure, etc. So clearly she does well posting super-early numbers.

This should be good for Hunger Games though because this obviously indicates it'll go up to $23-24M Friday.

Remember when HBO was going to have a series starring Diane Keaton basked on Nikki Finke's life? And then it didn't happen? Good times.

Notice how I quoted the numbers? Cleverly circumventing the "clicking" paradox.

What is wrong about it? If you happened to have some insider numbers or even the slightest trends you wouldn't share them with the others? Why don't you bash notfabio from hsx because he often give some admissions numbers from his theater and make his own very rough projections? This is so childish and silly.

I always wonder who her source is. An old man at the local picture hole that rips the ticket

Indeed, it's not really Nikki that should be the target of the derision, but her sources. She's just the messenger.

I wasn't just referring to you, "Biggestgeekever." I'm just saying, in general, these numbers, however extremely early, seem to generate conversation and therefore are surely a positive for her site. Being first can be more important than being accurate or responsible or intelligent.

What's "wrong" about it is that her estimates are so rushed and unscientific for no reason other than to beat other analysts to the punch.

I don't walk around with thoughts of stabbing her in my head or something. I just think she's kind of ridiculous.

And despite the usual suspects posting variations on a theme every Friday afternoon, all you fuckers love these numbers and would miss a beat if Nikki didn't post them. She's kind of sleazy and eccentric and all, but come on now. Most of you love box office more than actual movies. Any little morsel of speculation or indication is like crack to you.

Well, duh. That's her game, and she's good at it. She's not trying to be like Exhibitor Relations, posting a tidy trickle of actual numbers over the course of two hours.

I actually preferred following box office when there was no tracking and the first time we saw numbers was when Showbiz Data posted them. Yes, I am old.

Someone needs to keep a record of the Finke early numbers. I would but just have no interest.

There's nothing wrong with extrapolating based on matinees. But she should at least show us the matinee numbers before giving her sources' Friday/weekend projections. Maybe the data are confidential or she thinks readers are not box-office literate enough to handle those data.

Boy do I remember those days. But I like it better how it is now. I hate waiting :P. Even if she may end up being off sometimes (or quite often) it's still exciting to see any sign of how the movies are doing.
