 Re: "Smash" (Season 1)
Now that Smash flopped, they should really premiere Awake (that gone does have potential) after The Voice.

 Re: "Smash" (Season 1)
Terrific episode tonight! It was a real blast. Now I really hope it stabilizes and they'll give it another season. The next looks pretty thrilling.

 Re: "Smash" (Season 1)
Tonight's episode was the best yet! Loved it. And I'm really getting into the storylines too.
It was trending on Twitter all through the episode so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for decent ratings tomorrow.

 Re: "Smash" (Season 1)
Who is this assistant? How is he showing up at that party for that millionaire because the songwriter wasn't even there. Plus, why would the director hit on his supposed girlfriend. I doubt she could invest much in the picture. Oh, and I really dislike Ivy. Scumming her way to the top. Tables get turned next week however. Nick Jonas did a nice job too. I enjoy Houston's character as well.
Fire that assistant!

 Re: "Smash" (Season 1)
The assistant annoys the crap out of me. And I too am disliking Ivy at the moment.

Katherine McPhee is really damn good looking on this show. She would have won American Idol if she looked this good back then.

Damn home wrecker . She needs to replace his ass. Nothing worse than someone holding something over your head ALL the time.

 Re: "Smash" (Season 1)
I watched episodes 3 & 4 yesterday, saw episode 5 today. The quality is building nicely. I really like where this one headed after the too glitzy and showoff-y pilot.
It also seems to have stabilized in the ratings. Going against repeats it went up this week (though TV did too, so we will see with the finals how much it went up. If I'm not mistaken it usually gets adjusted down in the ratings, but so far it leveled off and that's good).

Yeah, it did great last night. And the episode was quite good as well - loved the big musical number. My biggest problem is Julia's son - dear lord what a horrendous actor.

 Re: "Smash" (Season 1)
I didn't care for the big musical number but I'm not really watching it for those. Haven't liked most of them so far. McPhee singing and dancing in the bedroom was fun though. And yes, the son is such a bad actor.

I only like when they do the rehearsals and show how it would look on stage. But all those other musical numbers suck and have no place here IMHO. I think the story and characters are rather good and I'd like to see more interaction instead of lip syncing on current hot tracks like Rumor Has It, etc.

 Re: "Smash" (Season 1)
The makeout sesh was quite steamy.
Ivy is still a grade A bitch. I had no sympathy for her at the end of the episode though in some odd ways I really do like Derek since he really doesn't care about Ivy.

 Re: "Smash" (Season 1)
Good episode. Though they need to cut the non-Marylin-musical ralted songs ASAP. I skipped the one in the bedroom 20 seconds into it and I was too stunned to skip over Shake It Out. It was horrible. And what the fuck was with that weird hand/wrist movement? Was that shaking it off? LOL. But other than that Smash is actually a pretty strong drama already.

I didn't like either popish songs being sung.

I liked the Megan Hilty one but wasn't a fan of "Shake It Out." Otherwise, another really solid ep.

Ivy's song was worse more because of how awkwardly cut it was

 Re: "Smash" (Season 1)
I keep wanting to like Smash more than I actually do. Last week's was good and this week's was...ewwww. It's like...the actors are great (for the most part) but a lot of the storylines are a bit stupefying. Why does Ivy have to be written as such a catty diva (and what on earth was going on with that scene of her singing in the bedroom)? Karen as so meek and non-threatening? Julia's son as the most unintentionally funny teenager currently on TV (although that might have more to do with terrible acting)?
And don't even get me started on the uncomfortable "Julia has an affair" storyline. Although I will say that I'm really enjoying Debra Messing in this role, despite some of the awkwardness associated with her character. But the whole thing is kind of icky, and the Michael character is coming across as more creepy than sexy to me. The way the whole thing played out was just kind of ridiculous, and it's already ruining the Julia character despite Messing's immense appeal as an actress.
Also, Anjelica Huston is this show's lifeblood. I feel like she's having more fun than everyone else put together.
