Re: Who Still Cares about Grammy Awards?
Adele is going to win the everything she is nominated for, there is no doubt about that. Foo Fighters and Bon Iver have no chance at the big 3.

I really don't even keep up with this in terms of winners. I will watch it for the performances...maybe.

Re: Who Still Cares about the Grammys?
Adele is very well liked.
She is liked by typical fans of music, by people who listen to the big hit songs and even by a lot of my friends who think "99% of Music today is crap crowd"

Re: Who Still Cares about the Grammys?
I liked Justin Vernon's acceptance speech when he received the Best New Artist award for Bon Iver tonight.
He said when he started to make songs he did it for the inherit reward of making songs. He expressed a sense of gratitude for the nominees and all the non-nominees that have never been there or never will be there.

Re: Who Still Cares about the Grammys?
I think his underlying sentiment is music is not defined by the number of awards won or the number of records sold.
When the media talk about achievement of an artist (be they musicians or actors), they always mention sales and awards numbers. That kind of thinking is pretty shallow, imo.

Re: Who Still Cares about the Grammys?
LOL you made me think Foo Fighters and Bon Iver actually beat Adele for a second there. I wonder if Vegas even had odds on best album/record/song this year, this was the Return of the King year of the Grammys

Re: Who Still Cares about the Grammys?
ratings were gigantic.
Grammys need to bank on some legendary singer dying right before the show every year.

J Lo, Rihanna, Pitbull, Rebecca Black et al certainly love it with a bizillion YouTube hit rates and humongous royalties that come directly and indirectly because of that.

Re: Who Still Cares about the Grammys?
These days record sales or awards do not show what is the MOST popular song of the year.
I think worldwide it was likley Jlo On the Floor. Can't argue with half a billion views in a few months.
What is the song that people love the most, or will be remembered or is the best is totally different.
