I read a couple Tolstoy novels between every word Poitier said.

Hmm, so The Artist is not sweeping...
I'm starting to wonder whether Midnight in Paris might take home Picture or Director. They do love Allen.

Does Marty's win secure Hugo in Best Picture? Or could The Descendants still win, I wonder.

Or 2005 - Eastwood won Director, but The Aviator Picture. Or 2007, Scorsese won Director, but Babel won Picture. Scorsese has never been able to win both, hehe.

Dujardin's speech was funnier than anything in The Artist.

Re: Official Golden Globes ceremony thread
So look like it'll be Hugo on one end and The Artist on the other for Best Picture here.

For a movie to win Best Picture Drama AND Best Director...it is rare to lose the BP Oscar to a Best Picture Comedy/Musical winner. Of course it has happened before (Saving Private Ryan vs. Shakespeare in Love), but it is still rare.

I think last year, and a few other years in the past decade, has shown GG is becoming more and more irrelevant in term of all the rules we used to have. The Artist is still the clear frontrunner IMO.

It is probably, but definitely not for Director. If Scorsese wins DGA, then it's his.
