Post Re: Weekend's Movies to Predict (Jan 13 -15)
I suggest to use this thread to discuss the weekly entries to predict.

Here is what I have in mind for Jan 13 - 15:

Openers
1. Beauty and the Beast (3D)
2. Contraband
3. Joyful Noise

Holdovers
4. The Devil Inside
5. Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol
6. Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows
7. The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
8. War Horse
9. We Bought a Zoo
10. The Adventure of Tintin

The only other alternative is Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy if it significantly overperforms and could be the more interesting film to predict than say Tintin. Iron Lady is supposed to have some expansion next week, not doesn't look like it's going to be wide.

On another note, we will have the MLK holiday for next week, and I wonder if people think we should predict for 3-day or 4-day. I'm voting for keeping it 3-day since it's not a holiday where everyone gets off like Memorial or Labor Day.

We should predict the four-day, IMO. We always should in a case where the box office sites (Mojo, etc.) will report 3-day and 4-day numbers as separate lists. It's a big enough holiday.

And TTSS should be one of the films we're predicting. It did very well in its expansion.

Actually I just realized I forgot about Alvin while making that list; with it, there is definitely no room for TTSS given the distance between it and We Bought a Zoo this past weekend.

And I made it 4 days as David suggested.

Given this is the Oscar nomination week, I put both The Artist and The Descendants, two films in theater that should receive the most boost, in for this week. Hope people are fine with that.

Post Re: Weekend's Movies to Predict (Feb 17-20)
For Presidents day weekend I am suggesting the derby should be 4-day one.
I am also requesting there be 11 movies to the predict. The 3 openers and 8 holdovers

The Holdovers:

4. The Vow
5. Safe House
6. Journey 2: The Mysterious Island
7. Star Wars: Episode I - the Phantom Menace 3D
8. Chronicle
9. The Woman In Black
10. The Grey
11. The Descendants

I thinking with it good holds on its oscar nomination run, I think The Descendants has a chance stay in the 10 again next weekend, given that I think it could be close race for the 10th spot with The Grey and The Descendants.

Post Re: Weekend's Movies to Predict Thread
For this weekend, given the weakness of the bottom holdovers and the intrigue and potential of The Hunger Games, I decided to predict its opening day as well instead of predicting some movie in $1m range. Hope that's good with everyone.

I vote no. Because I don't know what that is.
