Immortals is a 2011 3D fantasy action film directed by Tarsem Singh and starring Henry Cavill, Freida Pinto, and Mickey Rourke. The film also stars Luke Evans, Kellan Lutz, Joseph Morgan, Stephen Dorff, Alan Van Sprang, Isabel Lucas, and John Hurt. The film was previously named Dawn of War and War of the Gods before being officially named Immortals, and is loosely based on the Greek myths of Theseus and the Minotaur and the Titanomachy.
It was released in 2D and in 3-D (using the Real D 3D and Digital 3D formats) on November 11, 2011 by Universal Pictures and Relativity Media.

Re: Immortals
A supporting Oscar should go to the bits of food in Rourke's beard throughout.

I enjoyed it overall. It was a bit slow at times getting to the next action piece as the story rolled along but all in all it was a decent picture. I really enjoyed the final 20 minutes of the film with the fight between the titans and the gods. Now, that's how you do action sequences.
Grade - B

Re: Immortals
I'm really curious to see this, I wish it were playing in 2D here because there is no way I'm going to pay the extra cash for 3D for something like this.

Re: Immortals
I was dragged by my friends to watch this and I was surprised by how much I liked it. The story is slow and kinda crap. The actors do their best even with all the bad dialogues given to them. However, the visuals and action scenes were pretty damn cool. The 3D is one of the better post-converted ones I have seen. I had a fun time but that might be because I had zero expectations from it. Oh and I had only watched the first trailer of this movie so I had no clue that this was an R rated movie LOL
I give it a B

Re: Immortals
I thoroughly enjoyed this film for two primary reasons:
1. It's freakin' beautiful! From the costumes, to the actors, to the golden lit cgi vistas, to the slow motion head explosions - - the whole movie was a joy to behold.
2. The old school storytelling. Usually I like a little humor in this sort of thing (God knows it saved the remake of Clash of the Titans), but the serious tone of this story held me in rapt attention from beginning to end.
23 out of 5.
{Being a big fan of Tarsem Singh's first movie, The Cell, I'm thrilled to see him garner some Hollywood BO success with Immortals. It means that we now have some hope to see much more of his vision cast into film - - with next year's Mirror, Mirror being the first out of the gate. Now I just need to find a repertory theatre to watch his missing film, The Fall from 2005. I waited and waited for it, but it was never released in my market - - distributor bastards!}
{{Sadly, I had to see this film in Dark-o-Vision because no 2D screening was available when I had time to see it - - Immortals seemed to be released on an unusually low number of 2D screens. I highly recommend you do whatever you can to seek out a proper 2D screening to see the full beauty of this movie. There are many times it uses darkness as one of the brushes on it's canvas, and the 80% reduction in the brightness of dark scenes is just plain criminal.}}

Re: Immortals
The story is shit, the script is a mess, and the visuals wear off after awhile (minus the last shot). The only bright spot for me is that I'm now convinced that Henry Cavill will make for a pretty good Superman.

6/10 -> C
Good mindless popcorn flick. Expected more sex and nudity a la Starz' Spartacus, but alas. 3D was shitty as usual. Also it seems like Tarsem lost a lot of visual punch with this one. Visually the movie is more of a 300 knock off than a sibling of his previous very vivid and visually tasty movies.
