Same. Though i want to see Transformers 4  I think by the time TF4 comes out, grosses, in China will be easily above $200m meaning another surefire $1.1bn+ gross.

If they come back with something fresh then TF4 could also increase in the Domestic market from TF3.

Yeah, TF3 does not deserve to be on that list. By far the worst movie of the bunch. The two Hobbit films should knock it out of the top 5 if something else doesn't do it sooner.

I'm really loving these Production Videos, it's great that this time they've focused on a particularly area. Still, I wished they had not shown too much for a few months....looks like they can't help themselves and putting to bed rumours that it would not meat the Holiday 2012 release date.

Mirkwood was WOW, i thought that's what they we're going for until they explained why LOL....Mirkwood in my mind is darker than Fangorn.

Just as planned, they have to obviously show a teaser. I hope it's going to be very brief and amps up the excitement. Leave the best until the final theatrical release next year.

I also want a teaser poster as well this Christmas, please :wub2:

Confirmed, trailer to be in front of Tin Tin. Can't wait. Battle is on, TDKR vs. The Hobbit...let's see which one makes the most impact.

December 20th.

Post Re: THE HOBBIT: An Unexpected Journey (WW ASSAULT)
The Teaser has been released, and has got me very excited. Definately really like the 2nd part of the teaser with all those montages and i didn't mind the singing, though it kinda reminds me of something from Pirates of the Caribbean.

What got to me though was some of the set pieces, looks kinda fake and not as natural as in LOTRs. That's kinda what i feared when i heard that the majority will be filmed indoors on sets. It has that slightly fake feeling like in King Kong. Let's hope the final product looks better and graded properly.

The final scene with Gollum was truly magnificent though. Can't wait to December 2012.

--

There's been a bunch of new trailers released recently including TDKR and Wrath of the Titans, though this is easily better than both including TDKR. TDKR just didn't have that sense of emotional weight or closure to it (and it's the 2nd trailer) whereas The Hobbit has a freshness, familiarity and truly teased with its final Gollum scene.

They're doing a good job with the marketing so far, let's hope that translates to some big grosses next year. I really hope The Hobbit can pull an upset and beat TDKR domestically.....overseas, it definately has a better shot.

It really looks better but just for trailer sake I would not compare TDKR and Hobbit, they are totally different movies and the audience though overlap like them for very different reasons. For example Nolan has way more fans than Jackson right now. Not only that one is conclusion of a trilogy and the other is a follow-up.

As for the trailers itself I felt both were on par with the excitement they wanted to generate. TDKR's trailer though has still got more attention domestically as for Hobbit it is not yet out in OS markets.

I am thinking even domestically it has everything going to be huge.

I mean it should get 300 million but next X-Mas has no other film that is serious competition. It will be like the old LOTR releases, open before X-Mas and dominate till after New Years.
The weekends next year will be normal and the Holidays will be in mid week, meaning big weekend and massive weekdays.

I remember the LOTR films had like 18-30% declines in thier 2nd weekends, lets see what the Hobbit does.

Hobbit might increase over LOTR due to 3D but I don't see a huge jump over ROTK. I don't see it getting close to $490m adjusted total of ROTK (which would easily cross $500m by next December). The max I see for it is $450m and NOT $500m domestically.

Next year's competition looks quite strong IMO, probably not as huge as this year in terms of brand names but definately bigger than the days of FOTR, TTT and ROTK. World War Z to me is the biggest threat.

Personally, If this is to top $400m Domestically (or ROTK for that matter) i'll be extremely happy and gives it a great shot of defeating HP7-2. I don't see $500m domestic at this stage.

On a side note, which trailer has generated the most views in 24 hours? Is it still TDKR? or The Hobbit? and by how much?

I'd say next years competition is much more formidable than the films out this Christmas. World War Z, Django Unchained, This is Forty (Apatow), The Bigelow Bin Laden film and Great Gatsby all look strong.

Yes, actually and then there's Les Misrebales

Competition is strong but those are all 100 million dollar hits at most, rather then 200+ million hits.

Hobbit will likely not be as dominate as the LOTR films where however.

It was the LOTR films that made the Holidays so desirable to Hollywood these days.

Watched the trailer on Apple and I'm excited. Guess I'll need to read this book at some point. Thankfully, this film is only a year away.

One is bound to breakout and hit at least $150m+. I think both Les Mis and World War Z can do it.

I saw The Hobbit teaser attached to Mission Impossible 4 here in Australia today. It was awesome on the big screen with that fantastic music. YES i wasn't expecting it, i thought it would be attached to Tin Tin not MI4.

I saw MI4 today as well but no Hobbit trailer! :( Even the TDKR one was the old teaser. Atleast they had The Avengers. This was in fake IMAX btw (Hoyts).
