Looks like the 3 day estimate was upped from $97.4m to $97.5m...

Who thought it'd do 97m 3day & 117m 4-day after a dismal 37m day 1

When Transformer 4 comes out. I think it is best not to look at MTC or Pre sales.

I realize everyone's all impressed by Transformers having something resembling legs, but its six-day is still lower than most of you predicted. By a decent margin.
ESTIMATED 6-DAY: 181.1

Don't mention such things. They won't like it. Besides, I'm sure it'll just have an amazing multiplier and beat the Dark Knight Yeah, Transformers 3 did rebound from it's rather dud of an opening but it's still underwhelming (which is fine by my). Harry Potter definitely has a chance at number one now. Paramount's overly-positive responses to every newly released figure have been worth a few chuckles, though.

 Re: 4 day weekend estimates
Actually DH2 is not guarantee to win the year domestically
Based of Wednesday opening it appeared TF3 would struggle for 300 million.
However the question is more like over or under 340-350 million now and DH2 will have to do really well to get such a gross.
Domestic is a dog fight.
Overseas, TF3 is doing far better than expected.
So win win win...
People are generally impressed for TF3 has recovered far better than any would have expected from its Wednesday opening.

It is looking to be the biggest one yet WW. It made 181 when many thought it would come close to that as of last week. It will make more the the first. Ether way you look at it, it is a WIN. You really think people are going to bad mouth a movie that is getting a great reaction and that is a box-office hit. Get real. This is not Cars 2.

 Re: 4 day weekend estimates
Imo DH2 and TF3 should be around the same pace by day 6 unless DH2 opens well over 150 million..

 Re: 4 day weekend estimates
No it will hit 200 million on Day 8.
Did some forward projections and it looks like it will end up over 340 million.
It should be quite ahead of Spiderman 3 by Sunday

Sure it's impressive. But if The Dark Knight Rises opened to 140 opening weekend, it would still be a disappointment compared to expectations. I get people being relieved for the legs, but now people are acting like the thing blew the roof off the box office and beat all expectations. In truth, for the period people were predicting, it underperformed as compared to their expectations.

It's total isn't impressive, but it's recovery since its OD is impressive. May not be impressive when you look at what Part 2 did but it is Impressive. Tracking and pre sales did not have this movie doing 181 million. That is a fact. The reason why everybody is impressed is because of the 360 it did after opening day and WW total so far. This time last week 181 was not in play for most people.

 Re: 4 day weekend estimates
we sort of ignored the fact that ROTF wom did have an effect.
However TDK2 will come off one of the most popular and well liked blockbusters of the modern era. An opening below TDK would be sad...

It might have opened lower than we all predicted but after opening day, it recovered really nicely. A lot better than Dark Shape was expecting after the first numbers.

 Re: 4 day weekend estimates
Very much so. I just don't think it's worth all the "woah" posts I'm seeing when it made $25m less than most of the conservative guesses.
For instance -- I was impressed with Shrek Forever After's legs. But that doesn't make its drop-off compared to expectations any better.
