Guru: "After slim 2% dip on TUE, #GreenLantern falls 22% WED to $3.9M. Now looking at $71M in 1st 7 days."

Big Wed dip as expected but resembles Thor and overall not dropping too bad, but the weekend probably won't be as kind to it as Thor or Xmen.

Given the toxic WOM and all it is doing just fine...nothing suggesting that it will decrease hugely this weekend. I say $20m for the weekend is still possible

No, 20m really isn't possible. Too frontloaded, deep summer weekdays too low. It'll probably drop worse than Silver Surfer, which had less competition.

Looking at a $5.5m Friday and $17-18m weekend.

Remarkably strong Wednesday for everything except Green Lantern. Bridesmaids is down only 6%!

Comparing to other films' Wed holds makes GL looks that much worse. When Thor dropped over 20% on Wed, a few others in the top 10 did as well; when X-Men: First Class dropped the highest among the top 12 films on its first Wed, at least a couple of others dropped over 10% too. But here, nobody else came close.

It does indeed seem bad in that light. In 2008, a similar thing happened when The Happening and Incredible Hulk had sort of stand-out 1st Wed drops, and things didn't go great for either. At least Hulk had the benefit of being good.

It rained in many places, as opposed to the sunshine we've been seeing the past week....

I think Wednesday's relatively good holdovers may have a lot to do with recovering from NHL Stanley Cup finals game 7 last Wednesday, as was discussed last Wed when there were some relatively harsh drops.

Thanks for recognizing that people do care about hockey...just not as much as the other big 3 sports.
