Time for the third summer entry. Choose one above.

I'm going with Harry Potter's opening weekend is over $160 million.

Seconded, I thought I about Potter for 160 but just think it will do in the 150-155 range.

I have to go with Larry Crowne over 115 million. Yes, Julia Roberts and Tom Hank's star powers aren't what they were 15 years ago, but Eat Pray Love did make 81 million dollars last summer. Looks like some nice counterprogramiing to Transformers and the other big budget blockbusters.

Would The Smurfs grossing more than Yogi Bear be a surprise? Because I definitely expect that to happen.

I think Smurfs is going to completely bomb. I would love to see Potter beat the opening weekend record, and I'll be rooting for it. But I think Larry Crowne making 115M is most likely.

Very good choices
I think Potter has a chance for $80m OD and might be insanely frontloaded for $160m OW as well, Horrible Bosses I predict at $150m so there is an outside shot for $160m, given BKB's curse, superhero overload and WW2 theme CA can end up being the lowest grossing superhero movie, though my choice is....

The Smurfs grosses over Yogi Bear, Cars 2 would be already a month old and the next competition this has will be in Spy Kids (which I don't predict to be huge) on its 3rd weekend, so I see it having good holds and get an IM of 5.

Captain America over 200m+ and Larry Crowne 115m+. HP7 Pt.2 breaking the OW record would hardly be a surprise though a 375m+ end total would shock me.

Actually this month there are quite a few of these that could happen. CA and C&A can both do $200m. Larry Crowne looks like it can break out among older adults. Smurfs should also breakout. Bosses and Crazy could also breakout.

Smurfs over Yogi Bear sticks out there to me as something that is not only more likely to happen than the rest, but something I'd predict

I actually went with Horrible Bosses over 160m, I just like the feel of it. I'm not predicting a hangover or anything, but I think a big ensemble comedy that really looks (somewhat) original in humor and construction, but still not too weird, will be huge.
I don't see larry crowne at all, 75m at best, and smurfs looks like a bomb to me.

Exactly. If they don't know how to behave, and feel OK offending others, they get their ass kicked, so they'll think next time before opening their rotten mouths.

Smurfs will get past $100 m. It isn't just a family movie release. It has the nostalgia factor at play and that can have huge potential (ex. Scooby Doo).

Yeah, but look at what happened to the Rocky & Bullwinkle movie.

True, but Alvin, Scooby Doo and even Yogi Bear (for whioch, I think, $100+ million is more than solid) are enough examples that it usually works out just fine.

LOL Jmovies being a potter loonie has only positive events for potter. I guess DH2 missing 300M is not a surprise. I am thinking similar numbers to DH1.

300m+ will def. happen but I'm thinking a sub-HP1 end total for HP7 Pt.2 can be a possible surprise.

How can it miss $300M though with IMAX and 3D? The admissions drop off would be too much.
