Captain America: The First Avenger has screened! People have seen it! It’s long lead press and a few select others (not me, though. Marvel got no love for BAD), and the word has trickled down: the film is great.

I have no further information beyond that, but I’ve heard it now from a couple of sources. Could 2011 be the year where only the period superhero movies were worth a damn? That would be kind of cool.

Yeah with TF3 crossing $300m total by end of next weekend this is not going to happen. I am sure Captain America will have tough time surviving (specially in 3D) after TF3 and HP slaughter. People are supposed to be tired of Superhero movies and Green Lantern would hurt its chances to grow big(ger) IMO.

So if this opens to $40m-$60m OW it will streamroll over both Potter and TF3 ? What if its OW looses to Potter's second weekend ? I am sure TF3 will be non-existent by that time still it would have crossed. Do remember Iron Man itself made $318m and even with 3D I don't see this increasing over that mark. There is no way it passes HP or TF3's total domestically. Let's just not talk about OS Total anyways.

I just hope that we don't need to talk about OS total of this movie. Basically what you are saying that every movie that has a good cast and good reviews are mega hits and would be better and deserves What Went Right thread regardless of what they are doing at the BO? I have no idea what you meant by this making more than $60m in face of TF3 with 4th of July and holiday weekend.

I'm looking forward to CA, but I don't see it getting to 300 unless it just connects with general audiences and critics love it.
