Alright let me try this...I am not good at this (specially not as good as Libs) but given the occasion of Father's Day here is one that I always remember.

You’re the tops.
Your list of good traits Never stops.
You’re smart. You’re strong.
You’re always there
To fix a bike Or change a spare.
You’re good for laughs and grins and yucks
and could I please have twenty bucks?

Post Re: Screen Counts and Crowd Reports for June 17-19
Just came out of a screening of Green Lantern and I was surprised how crowded the theater was on Thursday evening, it almost felt like a weekend (though Green Lantern was only playing on one screen). I was also surprised that there were so many families for Green Lantern and specially today :shock:

Without any spoilers for the movie I would say that the movie was passable, still it was far from worst movie. It felt very long and lot of elongated, unimpressive, uninteresting conversations happened without the story heading in any direction. On the big scenes it looked like Campbell was shying away from action till the end (which finishes in a whisker). You can easily tell where the money was spent (still not well spent) and the suit is not as bad (you eventually get used to it). Love story was absent (or boring otherwise) and the acting overall was below average, Sarsgaard was totally misused. Reynolds is good (I specially liked his serious voice) though I liked Reynolds better as Hal than Green Lantern, compared to Buried (which according to me is the best I have seen from RR) this performance pales.

Rating : 2.5/5

I'm trying to figure out why I didn't save Father Figure lyrics until this week.

a nice jump from yesterday, especially considering that Harry Potter is taking up such a chunk of presales...

Presale impact considerations are better among films opening the same or following weekend. If people were buying both Potter and GL tickets, that should cancel each other out.

Now Guru reports:
Final Potter tops current Fandango sales w/ 30%
GreenLantern 25%
Super8 7%,
XMen 5%
Bridesmaids 4%.

I guess Guru has more up to date info than what Fandango is reporting publicly.

I'm a little surprised Transformers hasn't made it into the top 5 yet.

I suppose we can for now chalk it up to the combo of Potter and heightened Father's Day sales for Lantern, Super 8, and Xmen.

Pirates didn't show 2 weeks prior either with the combo of Thor and a bunch of Mother's Day friendly films.

Green Lantern wouldn't be a midnight film anyway.

Also, TF2 had people saying it would tank up until OD.

Yep these movie don't seem to have the same rush out factor as the Twilight or Hp movies since the audience is more widespread and there isn't going to be that much frontloading opening week since it will be the holidays. As for GL since it's going to skew alot younger than other superhero blockbusters I don't expect much midnight business.

Green Lantern is still a comic-book film. Just because it might skew younger doesn't mean doing 50-60% of Thor's midnights when it's opening far later in the summer is good.

From Natfabio:
final 79% attnd of thor midnight {nm}
74% of xmen attnd {nm}

That is definitely a good number for Green Lantern given that it is going to skew younger.

Solid numbers indeed and considering all the bad buzz I don't blame the lack of fan turnout for the midnight biz. By now it's going to have to strictly rely on the hardcore fans turning out and the parents who will take there kids to anything no matter how bad reviews are as long as it looks safe and squeaky clean. Pretty much the same situation that the The Last Airbender faced last year. I still expect a $50M+ opening.

My screening's attendance was way less than Thor and X-Men (maybe 100 people or 20-25% full), and way more guys than girls comparatively.

Why is Lantern skewing younger? I saw no difference in style and content that would appeal any more to kids than Thor would.

I'd expect WOM to be a non factor. It won't be toxic, but it won't be great either, and will almost be entirely forgotten by Transformers (3D trailer is great).

People are saying it skews younger because it looks like a silly cartoon, but doesnt mean it will bring in more families than say Thor.

Looks like coming in with a weekend in the 40s.

For MTC, dollar figure wise, Green Lantern did 4% better than X-men midnights (don't have a nationwide attend breakdown) {nm}

its done better than what I anticipated based on earlier theater reports by notfabio. I guess its on course to early 20's OD and probably close to 60M OW considering sunday will be inflated. But it will fall worse than hulk 2003 next weekend.
