 Re: Production Budgets
LA I do understand the budget (it is very good actually) but TAB looks a little costly to me probably because of the paychecks of the cast involved...not sure though

 Re: Production Budgets
Yep so about 45%-50% on cast seems a bit big for this one. Though it has been tracking good there is still a chance that it doesn't do as well.

 Re: Production Budgets
Seems high for AB to me, but I still think it will be a breakout performer so should be okay. Find budget for LA, it's a big cgi movie and I think will recover that just fine. Did we get numbers for Rango ever?

 Re: Production Budgets
Isn't that a fairly standard budget for that kind of movie?

Very very big number for Rango. I don't see it making as much of a profit as I saw it making few days before

 Re: Production Budgets
Yeah I don't see anything wrong with that rango number. That's the standard of what DW march releases were (a touch below actually) and this is a high profile flick. I still think it will approach 200m domestic so that budget will be fine.

 Re: Production Budgets
I don't think the CGI looks better though I am biased because of the main character being so ugly Also this is not DW just Paramount and definitely not as high profile as well. We still have to wait and watch for the 200m domestic because even though Mars needs Moms looks bad it has some factors that would definitely work against Rango

 Re: Production Budgets
Considering what Verbinski did with the POTC movies I'd assume Paramount gave him a pretty free reign and said "spend what you need to if it makes us money." This could be a terrible prediction but I see a big breakout here and I think their slight gamble will pay off big. 350m WW definitely looks possible to me.

 Re: Production Budgets
Budget looks astronomical.
Btw, GNOMEO is the only movie left without a known budget.
Disney doing their best to keep its inflated number out of the headlines.

 Re: Production Budgets
Good numbers for RRH and BLA. After seeing RRH it looked a little costly but since there are no known actors it could have been easier with that budget...btw terrible acting in the movie...yikes.
WOW for Mars Needs Mom. I don't know how can they spend this much on a movie and make it look so cheap? Somehow the graphics looks awful to me (and I was complaining a little about Rango but MNM looks even worse).

 Re: Production Budgets
lol wtf?
eclipse was 68 right?
wait 263 divided by two is not too bad. given pattinson, stewart and lautner all need to cash in for their last wooden, lazy performances before they have to actually rely on talent once more.

 Re: Production Budgets
Having read the books, there aren't really high energy action or intense sequences that should make them more expensive, but they'll still be massively profitable. Although I do think we'll see a decrease from Eclipse to the first installment, and another drop for the second. A lot of big twilight fans don't like the final book, it is chaotic, silly, and quite gross at a few parts, in addition to way over-long and not nearly enough material for two movies.

Disney doing their best to keep its inflated number out of the headlines. I am not starting to agree with BK on this. I mean GAJ looked a little more costly to me when you compared MNM which is outright pathetic for an animated flick. Though I still think the budget would be less than MNM and would still be around 100m or more. If we consider this then I guess the movie is just ok...even the over-performance is not that great.

Don't be stupid. This is not the major animated movie and Disney refused to make it and dropped it to Miramax. Miramax obviously had no such money and for a while Elton John looked like the only person to care about it. Later it was produced by some canadian animation company. You are all spoiled by Disney, Pixar and DreamWorks with their enourmous 150+ budgets. This is definitely not the case. I would say 40-50 million max. The Numbers by the way estimated it as 30 million.

 Re: Production Budgets
Impossible considering this was in development for over 6 years and was retooled after Lasseter took over and said "Why are we releasing this?" when no one answered, he said "That's right, we're not"
The animation is also pretty good, it's not Alpha and Omega type of crap animation. I'd say between 70-90m.
