Surprisingly, the
least of the three ROM-COM's I saw this past week.**
Of course Queen Latifah is the saving grace - - she got charm to spare to carry a movie like this, but unfortunately the scriptwriting was kinda clunky, the supporting characters were just adequate (Bill Cosby's TV wife go back into retirement!
). Worst of all, the leading man wasn't a strong enough actor to keep up with Queen Latifah. Common was okay, almost there, but lost in game 7 of the acting championship this time out. I can't say I didn't enjoy it, but it could have been so much better that I left the theatre ultimately disappointed.
4 out of 5.

Letter to Juliet was a pure romance movie (and a delightful one), so the surprise winner of this week's ROM-COM sweepstakes was
The Back-Up Plan, the most underrated movie I've seen in quite some time.}
