Post Spartacus: Blood and Sand - Season 1
Betrayed by his country. Beaten into slavery. Reborn as a warrior. "Spartacus: Blood and Sand" is a graphic and visceral account of Romes most famous gladiator. Premiering January 2010 on Starz http://www.starz.com/spartacus

This looks really cool and bloody; It's very 300 inspired/copied. I have never seen Rome the TV series, but I hope this one shows in Canada.

Post Re: Spartacus: Blood and Sand Trailer
After a pretty ridiculous start the last two episodes (1.09 Whore & 1.10 Party Favors) have been especially brilliant. The show quickly became a guilty favor, but now it can boast really great characters - female characters lead the pack though - Lucy Lawless is great as Lucretia, and Viva Bianca as Ilithya is one of the bitchiest and nastiest cunts I've ever seen on TV. And the best part is that apparently no one is safe in this show (besides Spartacus obviously).

The show made certain go give quite a few unexpected twists (though I really didn't expect much from it from the start, so that might have worked in show's favor) and all I can say is that I can't wait for the remaining episodes and I'm pretty glad they ordered season two before season one premiered. It might mean there won't be a long pause between seasons. The only bad thing is that the main actor has been diagnosed with lymphoma in the middle of filming season two. But they said it's in very early stages and he's almost guaranteed to make a fast recovery.

I agree with be.ready. The first two episodes were really shitty but after the third one, Im pretty much hooked to the show. I hated how they killed Varro. Yeah I do hope the main actor recovers from his early signs of cancer.

I hated it too, but it was done great so I can't blame them. I really didn't expected Varro would get offed so quickly and in that manner.

I kinda like all the wreck Ilithya does. I want her dead too, but not before she does a bit more damage around.

I'm interested when will Spartacus find out that Battiatus killed his wife. All hell will break loose then. Especially after what he had to do to Varro.

Well it could be that they find out that Ilithya killed that gladiator-sex-craving domina.

The show definitely has a lot of momentum and a lot of possibilities coming into the season finale. It's crazy how cunning and manipulative the people are in this show, but that definitely brings it another layer to its blood and brawns.

I couldn't stand the first episode. I found the 300-lite style annoying and distracting, and the dialouge between Spartacus and his wife was so cheese. It just gave me a headache and I never watched another episode...maybe I should have stayed with it longer.

They've pretty much done away with the 300-style stuff (thankfully). Once you get through the first couple episodes, you'll find yourself unable to stop watching. This stuff is really not what I'd consider my cup of tea, and yet I continue to watch week after week. (though admittedly, I still shield the screen with my hands at certain scenes that just are a bit to bloody for me)

I think the reason I keep watching is the unpredictability. Besides Spartacus, you never know who is gonna die next. It's INSANE.

And it was almost pure shit when it started. But it's pretty brilliant right now. Episode 11 wasn't as good as 9 &10 but it was still one helluva episode.

I like episode 11 because Bataitus at least shows some retribution to those responsible for Varro's death even though his intentions were motivated

Kill them all... man, if the body count for next week is less than 20, Imma be pissed.

The episode was great in so many levels, and definitely lived up to its title.

Spoiler: show
Cricux going ballistic and the aftermath was definitely the highlight of the whole episode. Now, he knows what Spartacus felt like, and his mind will wander beyond the arena, finally. Of course, Spartacus kicking some Roman ass with a practice sword, and Batiatus blackmailing Glaber were also pretty damn kick ass. And then there's Varro's wife working for Batiatus, and Doctore finding out about Barca...
