Seriously. What was "disappointing" about The Hurt Locker's box office, honestly? It was made for very little money and basically every movie about Iraq has flopped up to this point.

I don't know what numbers you're referring to when you say the DVD sales have only been just OK but they were very good in relation to its box office, from what I read. And the DVD rentals/sales are going to pick up substantially now that it has won Best Picture.

Also, these aren't the People's Choice Awards.

Eh, for an acclaimed (and actually rather accessible) movie like this one the box-office was not good. Then again, Summit didn't handle it well.

However, that's not the main point. What it boils down is is: Why the HOLY FUCK should the gross matter whatsoever in determining the winner?

tis a debate of quality thus avatanic will win every time.

Michael Bay is shit compared to both Bigelow and Cameron.

You're a fool if you think Bigelow out directed Cameron.

This should be in bold, giant letters.

Why the HOLY FUCK should the gross matter whatsoever in determining the winner?

Why? Because it's so true.

I am just glad these ridiculous, shallow, reactionary, gross-and-CGI-obsessed fools don't run a major awards show.

The Oscars aren't perfect, but their willingness to reward quality films which didn't gross nineteen billion dollars worldwide is not one of their faults.

His film of 2009 was better than Cameron's on an entertainment level.

Yep, and it has a Razzie to prove it  .

Hey, I mean in my case, it is often the bigger and more successful film that I like more. But I don't think that the budget or the success should matter at all.

Any word on why Swayze's name was never shown and Fawcett wasn't present at all during the In Memoriam segment?

Indeed. I'll almost always favor a great blockbuster over most films.

The problem with Avatar is that it wasn't great...or even good.

Because if two celebrities die on the same day, only the bigger one should get any recognition. I just love that the Wiz has cemented its place in film history for MJ to be acknowledged for a contribution to motion pictures.

Any thoughts on John Hughes?

Yeah, he sucks, his handful of movies suck, and the ten minutes they spent fellating him was an offense to anyone who ever paid cash to watch a movie

Could The Secret in Their Eyes be in fact deserving of the Oscar win? 10 reviews so far at RT, all positive with an 8.7 average.

In a similar vein, The Secret of Kells was one of the biggest surprises on the nominations morning, but it is also receiving excellent reviews with 90%/7.7 at RT and 83 at MC.
