Fuck, guys, enjoy the fucking film. Avatar is not the most unrealistic sci-fi film out there! Most of sci-fi films are unrealistic anyway - there's no sound in vacuum, which makes all the space battles look like crap. Like, the entire SW franchise denies the laws of physics. Do you care about that? Do you think SW is a shitty film just because most of its special effects are impossible in reality, because things like that simply can not happen? Who the fuck cares about those things?

I don't care that much. Suspension of disbelief rules.
But why are you so, how do I put it... hot-tempered?

BTW what do you mean by remote control of Avatar? Do you mean how they were able to stay in contact with their Navi bodies in the flux vortex ?

That's amazing, and could add a couple of million as well as they seem to always underestimate the foreign weekend totals...

 Re: Avatar (INTL.) - $1,917,419,460 Worldwide (#1)
At this point, I just don't see how it could miss 2 billion overseas... It's still making 15-20 million each weekday, and then has at least 2 more weekends above 75 million, and 4-5 more weekends above 50 million. With Oscar and BAFTA bumps, I just don't see it not getting the remaining 550 million it needs to hit 2 billion...
Incredible!

A bit more detail on total cumes: Combined with the $594.5m North American tally, Avatar currently stands at $2.044bn nda swept past $100m in Germany, the UK and Russia, as it had previously done in France and China. http://www.screendaily.com/news/distrib ... 48.articleAnd: The foreign total stands at $1.45 billion after a $95 million weekend from 120 countries. It remained No. 1 in many of them, including France (sales to date: $134 million), China ($126 million), Australia ($84 million) and Brazil ($43 million). http://www.reuters.com/article/idUSTRE6 ... inmentNews

 Re: Avatar (INTL.) - $1,917,419,460 Worldwide (#1)
The weekend gross on the foreign circuit was the first to fall below the $100-million mark but nonetheless the total offshore take was just 12% below the prior weekend's number, indicating "Avatar's" extraordinary staying power at the boxoffice. Top market was Italy where the third weekend generated $10.9 million from 906 screens for a market cume of $55.7 million. For all the Sturm und Drang in China about "Avatar's" 2D playoff, the weekend there came up with $9.7 million from 1,413 sites for a market cume of $126.3 million. Other key markets included France (cume $133.9 million so far), Germany ($106.7 million), the U.K. ($104.6 million), Japan ($92 million), South Korea ($88.5 million), Australia ($84 million) and Spain ($82.7 million). http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/con ... 9d88042d24

Astonishing numbers yet again in the UK means Avatar leaps over all three LOTR movies to number 4 all time. It will easily become number 1 by next weekend, with plenty left in the tank

So awesome!
And Japan added another $15m for the week i think. It's gonna blow past $100m with ease! $150m seems doable, if not more, if legs keep going like that.

I wonder if Spain, Australia and Italy will have enough steam to push it over 100M.

Could Avatar possibly make it to £100 million in UK?! £85 million seems like a lock at this point...

I've thought about the possibility, but at the moment i can't see past £85 - £90 million, which is just stunning. However, with weekend IMAX 3D screenings sold out in London at weekends until the end of February it's legs could keep on surprising yet.

More details. http://www.screendaily.com/news/distrib ... 48.articleThe top grossing market was Italy, which in its third weekend generated $10.9m from 906 for $55.7m. Avataradded $9.7m in its fourth weekend in China from 1,413 screens for an extraordinary $126.3m and will soon overtake France – where the film added $7.4m from 761 for $133.9m after seven – as the highest grossing territory. Staying with the seventh weekend, Fox’s juggernaut added $8.2m in Germany from 693 for $106.7m after a 9% drop; $7.9m in the UK from 745 screens for $104.6m after a 7% drop; and $3.4m in Russia from 419 for $101.2m after a 30% drop. Avatar will breach the $100m barrier in Japan next weekend after raising the tally there by $6.9m from 604 to $92.1m after six weekends. Others may follow: latest figures put South Korea on $88.5m, Australia on $84.1m, and Spain on $82.7m. Brazil has generated $43.3m, Mexico $37.9m, and Taiwan $23.6m.
