Plus look at this plot > too much??? > As homicide detective Thomas Craven investigates the death of his activist daughter, he uncovers not only her secret life, but a corporate cover-up and government collusion that attracts an agent tasked with cleaning up the evidence

Taken had a fantastic trailer with the perfect tagline. Edge of Darkness had some pretty good lines in the movie, but those who created the trailer never really took advantage of them when crafting the trailer.

Re: Friday Numbers and Early Weekend Estimates
Not looking good for CBS Films' next release either if the following is true: http://www.deadline.com/hollywood/frida ... rome-4-3m/Quote: And next up for CBS films – a Jennifer Lopez romantic comedy, that scored so low they moved the release date twice. Hoping to get the JLO from Monster In Law, or Maid In Manhattan, The Back Up Plan will do numbers closer to El Cantante! It scored low 60’s in the top two boxes, (and Todd Black, you’ve got to stop just blaming it on jLO. We hear that you’re running around CBS films saying you should have used someone else. Nice throwing your new bff under the bus). Still, rumors are buzzing that if this bird becomes another turkey, it’s bye bye Amy Baer. Always thought Amy was an odd choice for Les. She’s not strong in any one area, and is much better as the back up girl than the one making the calls. She knows very little about romantic comedy, has passed on some very good material and greenlit material that wouldn’t air on LIFETIME. I mean, come ON, Extraordinary Measures. Les, there are better people out there. Get one.

With ERC's estimates, my derby would be 90.57%. I'm pretty happy with that, though this wasn't the toughest week. Hopefully it stays above 90%.

Re: Friday Numbers and Early Weekend Estimates
Avatar's number is absolutely terrific and Nazgul is either insane or just playing with us. The film's going to make $29-30 million over the weekend, meaning a 14-17% drop in its seventh weekend, once again grabbing the weekend record and remaining #1 for its seventh weekend straight. That is outworldly amazing and absolutely locks up $750+ million for it. There's a great chance that it'll top $700 million even before the Oscars in March. If it wins Best Picture then, I'd proclaim $800 million a lock as well. Even without the win it still has got a chance. This situation in which it has over two months of no other 3D films out is absolutely unique and is helping it a ton.
Really disapponting for Edge of Darkness which is looking at a $16-18 million weekend. With a lot of R-rated competition ahead, legs won't be amazing even with good reviews and solid WoM. I don't see more than $70 million which is not too good for a film featuring Mel Gibson's return to acting. Looks like his starpower did suffer in the meantime.
Very good for When in Rome, especially compared to Leap Year. Dear John and Valentine's Day will hurt it in the upcoming weeks, but passing $30 million seems like a safe thing.
The Book of Eli is passing $100 million now. What a great way to start off the year for WB!
Sherlock Holmes is loking at another good hold this weekend and will pass $200 million next weekend. If it keeps up the good holds, it might actually crawl to $212-215 million.
