Re: Friday Estimates- Avatar-$7m; Edge $6.2m; Rome; $4.3
I thought Edge will Edge out Avatar for Friday at least, though the numbers don't seem to indicate that. This also means that Avatar will have 8 weeks at No 1. Go Avatar If Rome makes 4.3M Friday I think so it has a very good chance of surpassing 10M that would be good considering Leap Year has just been released

Very nice for WHEN IN ROME! Glad to see it's a decent enough hit for Bell.

 Re: Early Friday Numbers
I think so these early numbers are a bit too early. They may increase by 0.5M or 1M for sure
Though 7M is great but 6.2M for Edge looks really less even though it was tracking less but that is just so unlikely.

 Re: Early Friday Numbers
You cant be serious Nazgul - Avatar has performed ahead of anyones dreams and hopes. No number it has made has been dissapointing.
OK for Edge though $100m looks out.

 Re: Early Friday Numbers
ERC Twitter has some early weekend estimates very different from Darling Nikki: $30m AVATANIC $16m EDGE $12.5m ROME http://twitter.com/ERCboxoffice

 Re: Early Friday Numbers
That's pretty solid for When in Rome and rather terrible for Edge of Darkness, especially considering its $80M budget.

 Re: Early Friday Numbers
Well yeah it's a dissapointing number considering the marketing campaign for Edge, but I knew once I saw that MTC number that the movie would face some problems. It also depends on how big Edge's Saturday bump is. It could experiance a major bump today, but I don't expect anything higher than 7M. One positive thing about all of this though is that WOM is strong across the board, so it could still do a decent 65 to 70M domestic, but 100mill looks very unlikely.

 Re: Early Friday Numbers
Variety says different Friday numbers which seems to be more disappointment for Edge http://www.variety.com/article/VR111801 ... id=13&cs=1Friday: Avatar - 7.5m Edge of Darkness - 5.7m When in Rome - 4.38m Quote: In its seventh Friday, 20th Century Fox’s "Avatar" continued to fend off new releases at the box office, generating $7.5 million from 3,074 for an estimated domestic cume of $572 million.
The James Cameron sci-fi epic continued to post remarkable holds, dipping just 17% from a week ago.
Overall business at the B.O. was sleepy -- typical for late January. Mel Gibson’s first onscreen appearance in eight years "Edge of Darkness" took $5.7 million in second from 3,066 runs.
Disney's romantic comedy "When in Rome" took third with $4.38 million off 2,456. I thought Edge should have done better. Hope its Saturday is really good. Very solid numbers for Rome which could go as high as 11M by Sunday. As usual Avatar is still amazing and I like the new number
