 Re: Avatar (INTL.) - $1,838,802,321 Worldwide (#2)
So where should Avatar enter into that French top list??? I heard Avatar has around 11 million ticket sales... should finish in the top 5, impressive... Plus Holy Crap at Once Upon in the West.. Adjusted gross of like what 150+ million for that film???

Well, every now and then it does. Over the past two years there have been two Titanic showings in my city alone.

Hmm, I wonder whether it'll pass Sherk the Third in total admissions. Probably not, but I hope it will.

If Avatar will keep this pace then it will land somewhere between Quo Vadis and Titanic. It won't vanish from cinemas with Alice opening because most theaters already have 4-5 3D screens so it can have big attendence for at least next 2 months.

It is done. Spectacular. Who would have thought...
I'm kinda happy and sad at the same time. Seeing Titanic at the top of the charts for so long i sort of got used to it and while Avatar is awesome Titanic is the even stronger movie in my opinion.

Then it has the entire month of February to use it's IMAX/3D screens, Oscar buzz, and continued free press to it's advantage. 2.5 billion is basically assured at this point. But how much high can it go?

 Re: Avatar (INTL.) - $1,838,802,321 Worldwide (#2)
Well it is just official but we knew that this will happen soon enough. Still beating Titanic in 6 weeks is really great. The question now is what will be the new benchmark. I see that Titanic's WW gross will definitely crossed by Avatar's OS alone. That would be 1.85-1.9B Overseas and around 0.8B Domestic. Total will be 2.65-2.7B which is just .....

Was anyone compiling a list of what all-time # AVATAR sets at in different foreign territories (i.e. #6 in UK, etc...). I thought I saw it earlier but can't find it.

According to a formula developed by the department of U.S. Labor Statistics, "Titanic's" 1997 worldwide gross is currently worth at least $2.5 billion on an inflation adjusted basis, or $805 million domestic and $1.664 billion foreign.
Still champ is "Gone With The Wind," which grossed $400 million worldwide in 1939, now worth at least $6 trillion in today's dollars.
Say wha? Way too low an adjustment for Titanic and way too high for GWTW ($6 trillion? lol). They take into account overall inflation and not ticket inflation which makes more sense. There is no way GWTW adjusts to $6T by any legitimate/accurate measure. no doubt I agree. Add to that "adjusted-$6T-for-inflation" one World War in the 40's and the Smithsonian Agreement that resulted in unpegging the dollar from the gold standard in the 70's. Shesss! Why people keep comparing apple to oranges!
