Wild Things taking Cloudy's IMAX venues will hurt it.

 Re: Theater Counts (Oct 9)
Great for all openers actually. Watch for Law Abiding Citizen becoming Overture's biggest film ever.

 Re: Theater Counts (Oct 9)
According to their official website, it will be adding 163 theaters to it's total, so close to 200 theatres this weekend http://www.paranormalactivity-movie.com/theaters.html

Hmm, in that case I see around $3 million this weekend.

I'm not sure it'll play that well in all pre-evening showings actually...

 Re: Theater Counts (Oct 9)
Nice for PA!
Are they even advertising Bright Star anywhere but online? You'd think they'd have some TV spots for a movie in that many theaters. I really want to see it, but my theater still didn't get it.

 Re: Theater Counts (Oct 9)
With its current PTA I'll doubt it'll ever go much wider than 400 theatres...

 Re: Theater Counts (Oct 9)
Fame will be the film with the highest number of theaters, but is only looking at a $3m weekend; is that some kind of record?

Incidentally Fame already broke the record last weekend for this year for lowest gross in highest th ct.

 Re: Theater Counts (Oct 9)
Fame should have lowest gross this weekend for a theater count high since 9/29/00 when The Watcher grossed 2.28m in wk 4 in a weekend high 2,636 theaters. That's assuming that Fame beats that gross this weekend, which is not exactly a lock.
Before that it was 9/15/95 when Mortal Kombat grossed 2.26m in wk 5 in 2077 theaters. Again it will be close.
Before that 11/5/93 when Fatal Instinct grossed 2.20m in wk 2 in 1886 theaters.
Before that 4/16/93 when TMNT III grossed 2.03 in wk 5 in 2042 theaters.
Before that 10/25/91 when Ernest Scared Stupid grossed 1.64m in wk 3 in 1746 theaters. Awesome.
Before that 2/9/90 when Steel Magnolias grossed 1.61m in wk 13 in 1328 theaters.
Before that 5/1/87 when The Aristocats (Re-issue) grossed 1.42m in wk 4 in 1405 theaters.
Finally before that 2/10/84 when Hot Dog... The Movie grossed 1.09 in wk 5 in 916 theaters.
Of course this says nothing about inflation adjusted record lows. In that regard it looks like Fame is indeed the record holder.

 Re: Theater Counts (Oct 9)
159! Nice for PA. Excited to see how it will perform. Here's hoping for Top 10!
Nice for Stepfather, i was expecting 2,500.
The 2700 count + PG-13 rating and tonnes of advertising should push it to at least $10,000,000.
I don't see this pulling a JB, SR or WO.

 Re: Theater Counts (Oct 9)
Paranormal will almost certainly make the top 10, if Blair Witch is even remotely a good indicator. It will be VERY interesting to see though how the expansion into daytime compares to the late night only showings. I think honestly it would have been kind of cool if they could/would have done after-dark showings only for the whole run.
