Post James Cameron's Next Movie Is A 3D Underwater Drama..

This already sounds a hell of alot better than what he's doing with AVATAR.. He should've made this instead of AVATAR.. An underwater The DESCENT type of movie..

James Cameron To Do Underwater 3D Drama
Thursday, September 10, 2009 10:30 AM

Relativity and Universal has bought the rights to James Cameron's "Sanctum". (”You see, it’s like a flashlight… that you can f’ck,” Cameron explained.)
Relativity and Universal bought the distribution rights and are planning a wide theatrical release for Sanctum, an “underwater 3-D drama” produced by James Cameron. I wonder if this one will have cat people. REEER!Relativity was the first bidder after a screening last Thursday (of the new 3-D technology to be used in the pic) at Cameron’s offices in Santa Monica.
The picture, which has a budget of about $30 million, will lense later this year in Australia and has a late 2010 delivery date.
Pic will be helmed by Alister Grierson (”Kokoda“) from a script by Andrew Wight and John Garvin. Wight is a longtime associate of Cameron’s who helped develop the [Cameron/Pace Fusion Camera system for 3-D technology] seen in documentaries like “Aliens of the Deep” and “Ghosts of the Abyss.”
“Sanctum” was inspired by Wight’s near-death experience of leading a diving expedition miles into a system of underwater caves, then having to find a way out after a freak storm collapsed the entrance. [Variety]So basically, it’s The Descent, but watery and with less sluts. And don’t give me this “near-death” experience crap, they got lost, then found their way out. That’s not a near-death experience, that’s a dude-that-was-scary experience. I have those every time I get high.

No cat people in the movie is already a plus in my book.. This will more than likely be the "Apology to the fans" type of movie when AVATAR doesn't do well and he has this to fall back on and that's good..

Sigh...where do we start...

1. He's not directing it.

2. This sounds like a documentary a la TOUCHING THE VOID.

Who cares if he isn't directing it?? The fact that he'll be a Producer is just as good and again, it sounds alot better than what he's doing right now..

But you make it sometimes sound like he didn't do anything between TITANIC and AVATAR, while during that time he not only produced but directed several documentaries like Expedition Bismarck, Ghost of the Abyss and Aliens of the Deep.

the only reason you like this and not avatar is cause no one is hyping it now.

If people start hyping it in 6 months or a year you'll call it the worst thing ever.

Exactly. If they don't know how to behave, and feel OK offending others, they get their ass kicked, so they'll think next time before opening their rotten mouths.

I frown on the so called HYPE for AVATAR cause it really looks, well, bad for being the 1st movie Cameron has made in 12 years and involving what?? Blue Aliens that look like felines.. At least if his next movie is a tense drama which it appears to be, that actually doesn't involve stupid kiddy shit like Blue Kitty Cat Aliens, then I'm all for it.. Your problem like everyone else around here is your so called excited about AVATAR more because it's a movie with James Cameron name attached to it than the actual movie itself which very well has the possibility of sucking and your afraid to admit it and it's true..

This alone sounds like the film he should've done after 12 years instead of AVATAR...

And if they mention THE DESCENT is because of the claustrophobic feel. There will be no monsters in this one.

dear BKB,
I think titanic is a mediocre vastly overrated film, (6/10), Terminator is pretty great (9/10) and have seen nothing else from james cameron.
I am not even close to a James Cameron fanboy, I hardly even know his filmography. I would not get hyped over his movie because it's him.
The reason I am hyped over avatar is it looks amazing and promises to be something, and see if you can stay with me here, DIFFERENT! It isn't just another dumbass green guy beating the shit out of whatever is near him, it's actually an ambitious idea that promises to introduce something new.
Sincerely
J.S.
