As you can see, Constantine is just trailing behind Blade II. Because of President's Day weekend, it'll have a smaller drop on Sunday, and should be able to beat Blade II for the weekend, which had $32,528,016. As long as it doesn't drop too hard today, or at all, it'll definently beat Blade II for the weekend, and obviously, have a nice 4-day weekend.

You'll be eating those words very soon. This turkey is gonna nosedive at a very fast rate of speed. It's not a good movie.

All horror movies "nosedive", that won't have anything to do with its quality.

Constantine isn't a horror movie.

I didn't think it was that bad and I didn't even think I would like it.

I thought you would hate it. I realy liked End of Days, which is the closest example of the type of movie that I can think of. I have no idea why End of Days didn't perform as well as expected. I expected a movie on that level, and got something I felt was dull and not very memorable. I don't think many people will be raving about it, so the reactions are going to be between mine (waste of time and money) and yours (was ok), and that's not going to help WOM or repeat viewings. I don't see 80 million.

Mav, the way you're describing it, it seems you think it won't hit $60-65 million. I mean, because you didn't like it, it's going to fall completely flat after this weekend? You say when the WOM spreads, this will fall horribly bad, but so far, you're the only one who has given it a bad review on this site. In the theaters, on other sites, the talk about it is definently not bad. Hell, even the reviews are in the middle (unlike recent horrors, which have had 20% or less on RT). I don't see this falling as bad as you're saying.

And because you loved it, you're trying to spin a tale for all eyes to see. Has anybody at this site raved except you? I see between 70-80 million. Not based on my opinion alone. I don't judge movies by the internet. I don't even judge RT critics, but reviews aren't great. Some are terrible. When this movie tanks after it's first weekend, I promise not to say I told you so, but know this...I'll be thinking it. :razz:

If I were doing what you were doing, I'd be saying "this is a lock for $100 million and it's going onto $150 million because the WOM is awesome and it's such a kick-ass movie and it'll have a 9x multiplier, woo hoo!". I'm not. It may not even hit $100 million. My liking of the movie has nothing to do with my predictions. Because you hate it, you proclaim that once WOM hits, it'll tank. WOM isn't nearly as bad as you think. Infact, White Noise had worse WOM. Explain it's legs, considering that they were decent for it's genre.

The wom might not be AMAZING - but it's decent no matter how you look at it. It's not like it'll drop 70% next weekend or anything. It'll probably end up around 85-90mil

No, you need to read a few posts up, because I clearly weighed my opinion and Libs' opinion , and everything between, which is what I believe the consensus really is. That's how I rationalize WOM and repeat viewings , not by my opinion.

This is a good movie. I loved the plot. This is no run of the mill thriller. It is well made, the acting is very good for this type of movie. I loved Rachel Weisz's performance. The director took his time in developing the characters and for a first-timer the plot is devoid of cliches. I agree this is not a shoot em up action movie but is far superior to The End of Days. If there were more action, I might have given it an A.

It will make about $75M domestically and make a killing overseas. I hope they make a sequel to this.

The movie looks like its going to have Good WOM. People I saw it with seem to enjoy it very much. The movie to mee was a mixture of Men in Black, Exorcist, and the Matrix. I really liked the philisophical aspect of the movie and it was definately better than I thought. The only times that annoyed me was some people in the audience being rude by making small giggles so many times at Keanu Reeves line delivery. We already get, he may not be the best actor in the world but they should keep their little snickets and remarks outside the theater. It just annoys me people can be so disruptive during a movie, I was about to turn around and shush them.

Great movie, I give it an A-

I thought the plot was poorly executed, the pacing sucked, and the acting was flat. The characters are impossible to care about. End of Days had a much better Satan too. That Satan in Constantine was an embarrassment. I just felt it was not very well done at all.

There's no point in arguing. If your right, and this movie has absolutely terrible legs, I'll bow down to you. That's just how it is. I can appreciate when someone is right, and I'm wrong. The thing is though, there might be a different interpretation of what bad legs are for this movie. To me, if it reachs 2.5x multiplier, I'm satisfied. Why? Because for the genre, that's actually an okay multiplier. Hell, movies now struggle for 3x, so 2.5x is not horrible. But if this does get like under 2.2x (usually a symbol of either massive frontloading or horrible WOM), then I'll gladly announce that "Mav was right". :wink:

I completely agree, especially about the giggling; I had the same exact thing. The movie was very entertaining, and I'm absolutely certain wom is above average if not quite strong.

I for one have always expected a high level of frontloading. This is a dark R rated action/horror comic book movie with eye candy aimed at a niche young male audience. If only this were a sequel, it would be the most naturally frontloaded movie ever IMO. Elektra has probably already won the race for lowest multiplier of the year among 10m+ openers, but I'd say that Constantine's the only competition for second place is xXx 2, The Ring 2, Doom, and maybe Sin City.

I think it will just fall short of 30m this weekend, and IMO a multiplier of 2.5 (about 75m) would be a sign of great legs, all things considered. Look at X2: it had a multiplier of 2.5 with great WOM even though it had a wider audience and better weekdays (not to mention movies have become more frontloaded since then). I'd give it 68m.

This is a brilliant opening day for CONSTANTINE, and i'm well happy.

Constantine had a great opening weekend. A PTA over $10,000 and a weekend just over $30 million is excellent.

Ok my weekend prediction sucked. But I think its still possible to make 100 Mio. All I read its that people are positive surprised on this one (Something fresh). So I still believe that it can do a surprising high number.
