Green Zone has been moved to March 2010, presumably taking it out next year's race, along with this years.

Is anyone feeling anything for Where the Wild Things Are? Jonze has Academy cred and the trailer was pretty good.

I'm starting to have a slight twitch. Like nearly every other 2009 release, Wild Things benefits from the 10 BP nominees. But it seems so long since a "children's film" was nominated, though I'd be the first to say Wild Things isnt really a children's film.

If it's successful and has an 85 or so on MC, sure, it's possible.

Should I add A Serious Man back (it was in the original poll) now that the trailer has been released and received great reactions?

Are we going to see any August releases nominated for Best Picture?

There's growing buzz for The Cove, killer critical response. But a documentary nominated for BP that's not a Michael Moore blockbuster but instead a thriller about the slaughter of dolphins, that would be crazy.

I think 500 Days should be on the poll as well.

Could make 50m+, enthusiastic reviews, smart studio, likely to get a nod or two at the Golden Globes.

I'll put in
A Serious Man (a return to the poll), Up In The Air, 500 Days of Summer, Capitalism: A Love Story, and Biutiful

I'll remove Taking Woodstock as well. It pretty much died after the mixed reviews out of Cannes.

I'll add Biutiful.

I'd need to see a trailer first. I havent read the book, so I have no idea what to expect outside of the usually quality PJ and team bring.

Obviously, the ones like Up, Lovely Bones, Nine, Invictus, and Avatar are easy... but it's hard figuring out what the Academy's gonna do with their extra five spots. Will they really just go to similarly conventional Oscar fare that just doesn't get as much acclaim? Or will movies like 500 Days of Summer, Star Trek, Where the Wild Things Are, etc. take a stab at Oscar glory?

Lock up TLB for Cinematography and maybe even visual effects if it's not too crowded (it may be)

It's just another try to force the Academy into nominating him for BP.

I don't know if it's big enough to get into visual effects. I do think of What Dreams May Come, but the film isn't nearly that extensive or with the same runtime for the visual effects pieces. But watch out for Art Direction and maybe Costumes. Definitely Score, which may win Eno an Oscar.
