my friend watched 3:10 to Yuma and said it was the best western ever made.

I suggested this film and has changed his mind.

So I've never seen this, but I'm holding off until it shows at Film Forum (late April I think).

And when you suggest Once Upon a Time in the West his mind will be changed yet again!

Saw it again like the 5th time and this film is really good by the way and is very popular even today.

Like my teenage friends have seen the film and say it is badass and the theme is one of the most popular movie themes of all time

Terrific movie that can be both emotional, heart-warming, and then turn around and be ugly (in a good way) and badass. Remarkable, and the score, wow the score!

A+

I love this movie, but....heartwarming?

I'm sure there are fifty better words for this movie than heartwarming, DIB.

Boring at times. Pointless at few things. Cheesy at some. But mostly, great stuffs. And when it's great, it's really that great. Loved the three-way showdown near the end, masterfully directed, as well as most of the sequences in the film. What would I put as 'one of the greatest thing ever', however, is the score. Just amazing.

A-

Probably the best spaghetti Western, and maybe the best Western of any type - though it barely feels like one at times, what with all the Civil War stuff. It's epic, beautiful, funny, dark, stylish, entertaining, and just generally rousing. The story is simplistic enough not to overpower the film, and the three leads play off each other well throughout. The Mexican stand-off at the end is pure cinema.

I can't believe I ever thought this was boring.

Exactly. If they don't know how to behave, and feel OK offending others, they get their ass kicked, so they'll think next time before opening their rotten mouths.

haha Eastern Promises beginning sucks, that's not my fault. I liked it in the end, but a film should never start off that dull.
It's been a while, but if I remember correctly, this starts off with a bang.

yeah, I catch parts of this all the time on TCM or AMC and I am just amazed how good this is.

The trilogy is great and its builds up in this masterpiece of Westerns.

Westerns are sometimes looked down upon by some as being silly cliched cowboy fights.

However this film is a great one and will be enjoyed by all. It is long and it has boring parts but when it good it is the best.
Eastwood and the others are great but the music and the whole feel of the film what makes it special.
A+ and my 2nd favourite film of all time. I really like these long epic adventure or story based movies. That at the end when you watch you, you feel like you have been on a grand journey.
