I don't think it's been confirmed for Clooney one way or the other, although I kind of doubt he or Margulies will appear since they already had the episode a few weeks ago.

Eriq La Salle, Noah Wyle, Laura Innes, Alex Kingston, Sherry Stringfield, Maura Tierney are all absolutely confirmed among ER alumni, though.

I hope Maura Tierney returns, I didn't see her in the opening credits.

Yeah, that's weird, I didn't either. I figured Abby was on this show for so long that they'd have her come back for the finale, but maybe not. Apparently she was on 2 weeks ago.

Definitely one of the most graphic things I have seen from ER.

What a nice touch to have Dr. Green's daughter come for a med school interview. A great way to integrate him into the finale episode.

Great finale. I never fully watched ER but my parents watched all 15 seasons and i caught episodes. The ending was, fantastic. What a nice send off. I'm going to try to watch the whole series.

This was a very fitting ending to a show that broke a lot of ground.

They brought back the awesome opening credits and infamous theme music for the finale! That made me so happy.

It was nice to see some of the gang back. Carter, Benton (with a grown up Reese! awww), Weaver, Susan, Corday. Great to see all of them and everyone was looking good and them all chatting with each other reminded me of the "good old days" of ER.

It was such a nice touch to bring Rachel Greene on board as a prospective med student; she has come a long way from being a teenage hellion. If they couldn't have actually done anything with Anthony Edwards and Mark Greene, this was a nice way to pay tribute to his character.

Alexis Bledel was quite good as the intern with the "can I do this?" crisis.

I'm not going to lie, when the music started up at the very end and the pan out from County began, I totally teared up. For about ten or eleven years, I watched ER every single week, no questions asked, never missed an episode. It was revolutionary and different and brilliant. I think the end of this show is a bit like the end of an era.

Farewell, ER. The fact that I started watching this show in 1994 and it's just now ending really makes me feel kind of old and notice the passage of time. But that's OK.

You absolutely should start from the beginning. In ER's prime (which was a pretty long time actually, I'd say 1994-2002 or so), no show came close to rivaling it as the best drama on television.

Additionally, I'll say that "Love's Labor Lost" from the first season (aired March 9, 1995) is the single best television episode of anything I've ever seen.

I really loved how they brought back nurse Lydia? and did that opening scene like the pilot. That and the opening credits really brought a smile to my face. The whole show was great. Nothing big, nothing really flashy, just a solid end to a wonderful show. Watching the past 6 episodes or so has really made me realize how much I missed it. I watched a few episodes here and there as a kid but didn't really start watching until about 2003 or so, stopping a couple years a go. I have since watched the first 5 seasons and will hopefully watch the remaining sometime soon.

Absolutely. Oh, also I loved the final line: "Are you coming, Dr. Greene?" Great callback to the very beginning to when Greene was the teacher and Carter was the student.

I am going to have to go with All in the Family from Season Six as the best episode, the tension and melodrama in it is just amazing...the Carter/Lucy episode.

She is one of the few that wasn't in the retrospective that I would have liked to see. Gloria Ruben is another. And was George a part of the retrospective? I don't recall seeing him.

Per thrfeed.com:

The ER finale got 16.3 million viewers and a 6.0 for the demo (most watched DRAMA finale since Murder, She Wrote in 1996, lol and best drama finale demo since X-FIles in 2002). The retrospective got 10.6 million and 3.5 demo.

Interestingly, CBS aired the CSI 200th episode against the finale: it got 14.4 million and 3.7 in the demo. Series low.

That was a really good increase for ER. I'm glad. I watched the first few seasons regularly. Then kinda sporadically. But I can't remember the last time I saw an episode. But it was always good when I watched.

It was a good finale I suppose in accomplishing what it set out to do which was send these characters off, but I found it quite unrealistic that Dr. Carter who doesn't even work at County General spends his time in the ER running IV's into other people's patients at his leisure and just hangs out as though he's bored and how can that be when you have all that $$$$ Jerry's Beard annoyed me and I guess John Stamos is and was supposed to be the new George Clooney huh???

CSI was probably the drama show that toppled ER in the early 00s, but it has none of the substance or quality ER had.

Yeah I was never into CSI and was surprised it was No. 1 in the early 2000's. It's pretty soulless and much more concerned with flashy zoom ins and stuff.

Yeah "souless" is the right word.

And it spun off into dozens of other shows and copy cat shows which I personally dont like.
