Re: EW Ranks The Top 20 Heroes/Villains In Pop Culture
Yeah, I don't get The Wicked Witch Of The West in at #1 either. I would certainly put Vadder, Joker or Lecter in before her.

Tarzan, Sherlock Holmes, and Flash Gordon, are missing from the heroes.
Freddy Kruger and Lex Luthor should be in the villians group.

Re: EW Ranks The Top 20 Heroes/Villains In Pop Culture
the problem with the list is that it says top 20 heroes/villains .. and then it says pop culture.
pop culture isn't a matter of opinion ... its measurable to an extent.
unless the wicked witch was a huuuuuge talking point from the 40s to the 70s, don't see how its number 1.

How embarassing.
Where's Clarice Starling? Oskar Schilnder? Anyone from Lord of the Rings???
Harry Potter and Voldemort before Frodo and Gollum?
FUCK YOU, EW.

Re: EW Ranks The Top 20 Heroes/Villains In Pop Culture
Does The Terminator get cancelled by T2?
I think Rocky Balboa should be somewhere, maybe in the top 5 or possibly replacing that ugly creature at 20. I had to look up the Basic Instinct and Fatal Atraction ones, not a good sign.
Major props for a ballsy pick like Frank Booth. I didn't even like Blue Velvet, but he rocked.

unless the wicked witch was a huuuuuge talking point from the 40s to the 70s, don't see how its number 1. I think the Wicked Witch is just such an immeasurable influence within the culture that's she's always been at least somewhat/very popular throughout the years. It's very impressive staying power. Though I would personally rank Darth Vader or The Joker at the top of the list, I think the three of them would make a good Top 3, with Lecter at #4 (He hasn't been around nearly as long as those three). The Heroes list is pretty good, though I don't think Potter needs to be Top 5 after only 12 years in existence. Though there's a lot of newer characters on that list (Buffy, Bauer...Bristow?).

FUCK YOU, EW. Good for EW Magazine.. They've managed to get under the skin of hardcore fanboys and they knew this list would do it to.. I don't know why anyone is really surprised by this?? You all know that no matter what list EW magazine puts out, no one will agree with it, EVER..

Re: EW Ranks The Top 20 Heroes/Villains In Pop Culture
Really, Atticus Finch needs to get off the list of heros. I don't think I've ever heard anyone other than a movie critic or someone that makes a top heros in film list ever mention To Kill A Mockingbird. It like has this automatic pass in ever list.
Terminator, Rocky, and Rambos absense is troubling though.
