I think they should skip the red carpet crap and start the show at 8EST and try to get the thing over at 11EST that would help the ratings a lot.

To first report 36 million viewers and that the ratings improved as the show went on, and then change it to 33.6 million viewers and a diminishing audience as the show went on are quite the different results! Also of note: These early numbers for live broadcasts are consistently underestimated by about 10%, so the final number should be closer to 37 million. Low by Oscar standards, but that beats pretty much every non-football telecast from this and last season, so, woot.
