Its really beyond me how people actually liked Sith. To me is clearly the worst of the whole franchise.

I was reading all these 8's and 9's and wondering if I saw the same movie with the horrible, horrible dialogue (did I mention horrible?), one dimensional characters, plotting that didn't exist, and the "acting" that was...*shudder*. I can't decide if Ian McDiarmid's scary voice or Hayden Christensen's EMO-TO-THE-EXTREME delivery of every single line was worse. When I think of this movie I always flash to the highly laughable stuff at the end with Obi-Wan, when Anakin's all chopped up. That was the all mighty Darth Vader? A whiny teen screaming "I HATE YOU!!" over and over again with his angry eyes on full blast? Then Padme's BS birth scene, with the "she's lost the will to live" nonsense. Mother of the year, right there.

Re: The official Franchise Ranker (Star Wars! New and Old)
T3 is an effective story, with great characters, amazing action (Its car chase owned Reloaded) and Arnold, Effects, were still in top form. People only complained because it wasn't as epic as the 2nd, and was more of a simple chase film like the original.

Re: The official Franchise Ranker (Star Wars! New and Old)
I enjoyed T3, but I went in expecting a lesser-than movie compared to the first two and that's what it was. The first half got on my nerves a bit as I thought they were trying way too hard to be funny, the lack of using the R rating bothered me (take out that one arm-through-the-guy scene and dub out a few "fucks" then it's PG13 fare), and Loken was very ho-hum--BUT I do think it gets better as it goes along all the way to the great ending.
Also, Claire Danes elevated it somehow. I just like her.

Re: The official Franchise Ranker (Star Wars! New and Old)
As far the T3 vs MR car chases, it really depends. T3's was like an old school, 80's (with improved FX, obviously) destruction upon destruction chase where bad guy wants to get good guy and good guy has to get away. It was direct and to the point, with lots and lots of property damage and cyborgs from the future. MR's chase was much more intricate with a number of different factions and the new-ness of it all, the heavy use of CG, plus the more stylized way of the Wachowskis.
Take away the lame one-liners in both chases (I'm thinking the awkward "I'll drive" from T3 and Naobi's "Gotcha!" eye-roller) and I'd personally choose T3. MR was too overblown and felt like a videogame, with glaringly bad CG at the end there and I can live without slo-mo in just about all scenarios.

T3's car chase was exciting. Reloaded's car chase was glossy. Hence, I'll go with T3.

Im not a person that judges the acting that much on movies but c'mon, it was so horrible and extremely over the top that i couldnt ignore it.

Re: The official Franchise Ranker (Star Wars! New and Old)
The leap in quality from Phantom to Sith is so massive that Sith requires as high a number as humanly possible.
That explains my high grade. Phantom is essentially Wing Commander with a massive budget. It's Uwe Boll bad.
So there's a progression that needs to be rewarded.

Re: The official Franchise Ranker (Star Wars! New and Old)
Phantom Menace is better than people give it credit for. It feels like the most un-tampered with Star Wars movie of the prequel trilogy.
But Revenge of the Sith is just great drama. The last 45 minutes or so are the best stretch of any Star Wars film.

Re: The official Franchise Ranker (Star Wars! New and Old)
Except I wasn't exaggerating. I'm a sucker for big Greek-esque tragedy, and that's what Sith's ending is.
People treat Star Wars so differently from everything else that it's funny. There's no rational person in the world who would give Return of the Jedi a 10 and Attack of the Clones a 3 -- or vice-versa, which I've seen other places than WKJ -- and yet it happens all the time with these flicks.
