Yes, this might not be as quality as something like X2 or Batman Begins. But who cares, it was so much fun! SO much fun. I haven't had a more entertaining night at the movie theatre in ages, I lovvveeddd this movie beyond belief. The action scenes, the one-liners, the brisk pacing, and I actually thought it had some emotional power with the Jean-Xavier standup at the house, and the Jean-Logan finale. The score was good, the CGI sequences were great, the performances were all strong, it was literally the perfect movie experiance for me. There are times when I turn on my quality face for a movie, and there are times when I just want to be entertained out of my mind. And for the latter, this is up there with any film I've ever seen. X2 is still the most quality superhero movie I have ever seen, but X3 is now hands down my favorite, leaping into my top 15 of all time.

To show my treasuring of this by the way, I will now use my new Wolverine avatar ;).

X3 felt too similar to the first two movies in the series. The whole political plot and the gray area between good and "bad" mutants was fresh the first two movies, and now it's feeling old. They really need to make that a subplot and move on to fighting some cooler bad guys.

Also, there were too many plotholes. I don't look for realism in superhero movies, but they should follow their own set of rules. Why wouldn't Magneto just throw Wolverine out of the picture in the final fight? Why did Magneto need to rip a bridge up to get to the kid? Or heck, why didn't he just pick the bridge up and drop it on the building, killing the kid and eliminating any need to get into a big fight?

Plus they got rid of too many cool characters and other - like Jean Grey - just stood around in the movie looking like wallpaper.

Overall, X3 was highly disappointing. C-

The best of the series, but for me, that's quite an easy thing to be as didn't really liked any of previous two...B-

Btw, judging by Magneto's last scene, 'cure' might not work that great? Diminishing effect as time passes, and mutant powers returning? Or Magneto's powers 'shifted' to plastics, wood? Or just a great wind came at that moment... :-)

Sure this isnt as good as X1 and X2 - but its still entertaining and its still XMen. My biggest gripe is that its too short!

My Grades for the series:

X Men : A to A+
X2 A+
X3 A to A-

Well, I never was a big fan of the X-Men movies (tough I really liked the second) so this wasn't too disapointing for me. It was pretty entertaining with some cool action. There were two things that really bothered me, the first being Angel, he barely had 2 minutes in the movie and the second was Cyclops death. All in all it's better than the first but not nearly as good as the second. B

So I saw this now on DVD.

Well let me say I remember X2 as a very exciting movie experience. Even its about mutants and a comic book movie I really cared about the characters and wanted to know how it ends....

Well not so here.....what is left are some big explosions and action. All the deep of characters etc. was sacrificed. They just die like flies. I guess its simple because the movie is way to short for what it wants to tell.....

All that is left just some mutants running around blowing up stuff........I mean I missed a story and that in a comibook movie ???

Here a short scene...there a short scene..then fast here a short scene with some explosions.......nah not my thing.....

Did I tell the plot holes (even for a comicbook movie). I mean the end with the bridge was just stupid and just another cheap way to get some action on the screen (next time try stealth and take a boat or as Tony said just throw that damn bridge on Alcatraz....and tell the guy not to turn of the daylight with a switch)

I just had the feeling there wasnt as much care from the producers about the movie as it was in the two previous ones.

6/10 for an action non brainer that is not X-men if you ask me!

Yeah, the action and effects are amazing. But X-Men and X2 were more than just typical summer action blockbusters. They were thought-provoking, gripping films with amazing stories and characters you really cared about. Here, Ratner sacrifices all of that and instead delivers a very exciting, well-acted spectacle. It's a solid ending to the trilogy, but I wish Singer hadn't left, because X3 could've been a masterpiece just like X2 was.

I really have a hate on for films that are pure entertainment which really have no acting or story in them.

This is a great example and I liked the film because I think Magneto was great however they destroyed the storyline and the acting that was shown by most of the actors in X2 was absent in this film. Really Magneto and the Prof were the only ones giving any decent acting performances.

The story was destroyed with characters being killed off like they were nothing.
It really had to go down to cheesy one liners and money shots like the bridge scene to make the film entertaining.

The second film had great action scenes and a great story with some great acting from Wolverine and Magneto and The professor. This film really ruined the series. It went from being a great series to another mindless action flick series. Like how the Spiderman series has become and let us all hope Batman does not go down this dark path.

I just watched this, and while it's mildly amusing, it's pretty much garbage. The X-Men films in general are pretty awful, so it's not a great surprise. Whatever...

If you put all three movies together, the third is the weakest by a fair and giant margin.

It probably took itself less seriously, but meh.

Still watching the disdain of Magneto looking at Mystique when she had been "cured" is still probably the best scene from the entire franchise.

OMG I know. I was like, "BITCH" Hahahaha. love.

But still, what a bad film. All the deaths are so...insignificant and dull. You don't feel sorry for anything or anyone.

Also, the X-Men films suck ass because you don't believe for a second that all this fighting needs to take place. STORM CONTROLS THE FUCKING WEATHER. She could put an end to everything and everyone in a split second. The whole film is unnecessary.

I think all three X-Men films are ridiculous. I prefer X3 to the previous two installments, actually. I had more fun mocking it.

I can't believe I gave this a B back then and said it was better than the first. I watched it on TV a while ago and I didn't liked it at all. They really messed this one up. D+

omg

I just rewatched this and during the first 20 minutes I was thinking "this isn't as bad as I remembered", then for the rest of the movie I thought 'ohhhhhhhhhh'. So clunky, ugh. It sucks that there probably won't be another film with these versions of the characters.

This was unfortunately not very good...I can't believe that once they this film edited and ready to go, that no-one stopped it. It has some good action going for it, but aside from that it probably is the worst X-men movie, including the spin-offs. There are several deaths that aren't properly dealt with, and probably shouldn't have happened in the first place. Mainly it's just a very bad script. I can't put this too much on Ratner, the movie was ok in itself, but this just didn't feel like an x-men movie. It felt pretty ridiculous most the way through, it started off alright, but I guess once Scott was killed off, the story was lost too. The end fight was pretty disappointing too, with magneto getting so easily defeated. So glad, DOFP pretty much erased this whole story line post X2.

OK, acting is one thing, but as far as story I think X1, 2, Iron Man, Spidey 1 + 2 did very well. And also the recent Guardians had a good script from build up to the grand finale.
