 Re: Friday the 13th - $45m+ four-day
This is going over 20M OD and given the box office as of late, a 4-day over 50M wouldn't be surprising at all. The Grudge 2 made 10M OD opening on Friday the 13th. This should be able to double that. It would be awesome if the film could make 90M or more total. If it does 50M 4-day, that would be a good bet.

 Re: Friday the 13th - $45m+ four-day
This should be able to go quite a bit over THE GRUDGE 2's opening day. The buzz for that wasn't nearly as big, and it wasn't called FRIDAY THE 13TH. It should at least do 17 Million on Friday. I'd be disappointed with anything less. I could also see a 50 Million weekend (duh, since I'm already predicting 49.2 Million). I was originally predicting over 50 Million. I lowered my prediction a tiny bit, but could still see it happening.

You'd be disappointed if it did $14-15m on Friday? That's absurd. It'd be the highest horror opening day in years.

If The Omen could do over $12 million on 6/6/06, then there's no way F13 will do anything less than $15 million on Friday the 13th.

Yes I would be, because there's no reason it shouldn't do more. The Grudge 2 did over 10 Million and The Omen did 12 Million on a Wednesday (granted it was summer, but still). This has a lot more buzz going for it. 14-15 Million would be underwhelming, unless it managed to increase on Saturday.

Oh MYYY GODDDDD! Not only is the first horror movie ever that I would say I'm actually looking forward to, (I hate the genre but this just looked so intense) but with the tv spot I saw I think this movie will be NUTS! I can easily see 50m 4-day, people should be out for this like nothing else, the marketing is unbelievable.

I get the feeling there are going to be a lot of disappointed people this weekend, and it's silly. You're expecting too much.

Hell, I liked the Black Christmas remake so I should be easy to please It's not like the original F13 was very good in the first place.

I meant in terms of box office. People will think the film is fine.

For it's time back in the 80's it was.. One can't possibly expect a new generation of kids or teens to like something like F-13th that was made almost 30 years earlier when they weren't even born yet or were too young to even care, kind of like MBV..

 Re: Friday the 13th - $45m+ four-day
30m is indeed the expectation. It needs to break out for 09 to continue to do well as its 2nd weekend drop will be horrendous. I hope the other 2 break out as well. 20m for all. I mean Notorious and Hotel for Dogs got 20m+ for 4 Day. Why can't The International which looks good and Confessions?

 Re: Friday the 13th - $45m+ four-day
Because everyone else thinks the international looks terrible, in addition, I would expect over 30, would be pleased with 35m+ but I'm just saying that I think this breakout potential is there. I won't call it a flop unless it makes under 25m for the 4-day, and would only bother making a "what went wrong" thread with 20m or less.

 Re: Friday the 13th - $45m+ four-day
http://talk.hsx.com/films/post.htm?0213090528.notfabioVia notfabio: Quote: MTC: 332K for FRI13 midnight
By comparison:
CLOVERFIELD(PG13): 419 BLOODY VALENTINE: 124 STRANGERS: 111K
Now keep in mind, because of its franchise history, FRI13 was going to have a sizably bigger pre-open than the other R rated horror films.
But that's still, especially after all these horror films of late, very impressive. I don't see it having any problem going over 35 million for the 4 day no mater how horrifically frontloaded/if there was any impact having the TFRM2 trailer.

Reviews are better than your Confessions that you are rooting for. In fact, its better than most of this year's wide releases. Seriously, you're not the world.

Awesome call. There's what, .0001% chance this won't happen now? What an amazing time for the box office.

Kicking all kinds of ass this movie is.
BOM has it dropping 40% today, but i don't think it will drop that hard. Monday is a holiday. All those government workers who suck so much at their jobs (yes i stood in live for 2 GD hours to get my tags renewed...grrr) won't have to go in tomorrow so i see a softer sunday drop and a nice monday. 52 M for the 4 day...Nice Work!

Great call! I still can't believe it...an R-rated straight-up horror flick delivering a $40+ million opening?
