Post Emily Blunt Speaks Out On Losing Black Widow Role
http://hollywoodinsider.ew.com/2009/02/ ... -will.html

Quote:
Because Emily Blunt's commitment to Twentieth Century Fox and the studio's upcoming Gulliver's Travels movie may prohibit her from costarring in Iron Man 2, Marvel is in discussions with other actresses, most significantly Scarlett Johansson, to take her place, EW has learned exclusively. Marvel will not confirm, but sources around Hollywood say Johansson has indeed met with the filmmakers and is interested in taking the role of Russian superspy Natasha Romanoff, who doubles as Black Widow. Blunt's reps are still trying to make both projects work, but Gulliver's is further along, with a start date of April 15. Iron Man 2 still doesn't have a shooting script and a start date has not yet been determined.

Definite upgrade in the looks department.

And downgrade in the acting abilities department.

Not according to Woody Allen.

I think it's a push.

Everyone thinks Blunt is so amazing... from what? TDWP?

While Scarlett may have an amazing body and a beautiful face, she does not have the sophisticated sexiness that a role like that calls for. Her role in the Black Dahlia springs to mind, a movie that required her to have a kind of classy, mature sexiness to her and she ended up looking like a teenager in a school play.

Mistake! Johansson is a terrible actor and I don't think she's very sexy. Attractive but not sexy. Blunt is better.

Rumor is that Eliza Dushku really wants the role. She'd be so much better than SJ.

Doesn't really matter. Raimi will suck the life out of any actor/actress. It's like working with George Lucas. You can throw good and even brilliant actors (Terrance Stamp, Ewan McGreggor, Liam Neeson, etc.) at him and it turns to mush.

What does Sam Raimi have to do with Iron Man 2?

SJ is an unappealing actress who isn't exactly a box office draw. HJNTIY is one of her few hits and she likely has little to do with its success.

SJ's box office track record

Those charts mean nothing.

Case in point: http://www.boxofficemojo.com/people/cha ... enport.htm

They should cast Jack Davenport since he breaks in on average $165 Million per film.

We're talking about Iron Man 2. It's going to make $300 Million regardless of who's in the black tights. But with another award winner/nominee on board, it as least adds something from a marketing standpoint.

SJ isn't as sexy as Blunt or Dushku. She's not a good enough actress to pull off sexy, no matter how hard she tries.

Well that's a whole other can of worms adding Dushku to the equation (talk about box office).

Scarlett Johansson is sexier than Emily Blunt to most men I'd imagine. It doesn't even feel right to type sexy and Emily Blunt in the same sentence. Blunt looks like the girl up the lane. A bit fishy in the face really.

Blunt has won more Golden Globes than Johansson, heh.

See?? I told you they could get any hot chick, put her in black leather and it wouldn't matter and it isn't like moviegoers are actually going to see IRONMAN 2 for the acting for heaven sakes, except for people on websites like this and RT.. Scarlett Johansson Is a damn good choice either way..

Gah Scarlett sort of annoys me. Emily Blunt would be so much better.

She's beautiful, she's a great actress, and looks the part. Trumps Blunt in every category. I don't know what's not to love about the development.

I don't think she's a great actress at all. She's someone who used to show a lot of promise in her earlier movies (Ghost World, Lost in Translation), but now I feel like she appears in 50,000 movies a year and she just doesn't have that much personality in them.

I thought she was pretty good in He's Just Not That Into You but her part wasn't really that challenging or anything.

She's very sexy, but a mediocre actress. Blunt > Johansson.

Libs and I agree. A sign of the Apocalypse?
