 Re: Friday the 13th - $45m+ four-day
I doubt it'll be nearly as fun as MBV3D or get nearly as good of reviews from critics. I'm hoping it's at least as intense as the TCM remake was.
Official running time - 97m 5s

 Re: Friday the 13th - $45m+ four-day
For Jason to resurrect the series to this degree would be almost a Passion of the Christ-esque feat, using religious ferver of the highest order to spread buzz. In my opinion it won't do it.
My baseline comparable is Freddy vs. Jason, which is what people wanted to see for 20 years, and it delivered. Anyone remotely interested in Jason probably would have turned up for that, PLUS all the Freddy fans who didn't like Jason as well.
The FVJ "gimmick" I think far and away trumps any draw of a Friday the 13th movie that opened on the titular date, though when the movies in the series opened on that date they've been more successful than the ones that didn't. Summer has helped this series as well, which this won't have.
I have a hard time seeing anything over 35 for the 4 day.

Profitability is guaranteed and has been since the film was given the greenlight. It's rare for a horror film not to make money.

Yeh im hoping its dark, intense, with solid acting, full or dread, creates sympathy for the leads, not campy and genuinley scary.
And from the trailer and tv spots it looks like this is.

It's rare for a horror film not to make money. A "what went wrong" thread gets posted for anything it seems . Though I'll admit I'd be slightly disappointed if it did just 30-35 Million. Between 35-40 Million wouldn't be so bad though. It shouldn't have a problem doing 40 Million. People need to forget comparing this to the other movies in the series. It especially couldn't be compared to Jason X of all movies. I mean come on! This will make that movie's total gross in one day. This is nothing like that. It's a reinvention of the series and looks fantastic. Don't think people aren't excited about this. I'm more excited about than I was for Freddy vs. Jason.

I have a hard time seeing anything over 35 for the 4 day. Wait, I'm confused by your FVJ point. That film made 36.4 on a 3-day in 2003, with inflation that would be a 3-day of 43.6m. So if this movie performed comparably, and considering it has better tv spots and trailers that should make up for the lack of freddy, it should sky-rocket over 45m for a four-day and do more like 50m

 Re: Friday the 13th - $45m+ four-day
*sighs reluctantly* yeah, I'm in. There's been pretty of buzz which will only pick up and all the 13th/valentine/president advantages will give it a huge 4-day take. However it will fall like a rock and even with a 50m 4-day will never hit 100m total.

Of course it won't hit 100 Million. It will have bad legs like almost all horror flicks, though I'm sure WOM will be solid so it won't be because of that. Everyone will rush out and see it right away.

I couldn't wait to do my prediction for this, so I'm predicting 51.2 Million over 4 days.

I think people are simply beginning to get all horror movied out now with a horror movie being released every month it seems and if MBV 3D couldn't get the job done, I don't see how this one can.. I mean, MBV 3D did alright, but it seems like it should've been much higher..

Especially since Freddy has always been much more popular than Jason. You had the crossover element plus the most popular slasher villain of all time.

Except there's little chance this will be as entertaining as MBV3D, which offered something new for fans of these types of films.
I pretty much guarantee this won't get the type of critical response MBV3D received.

It won't be as well-received from critics, though I believe it will have more reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, and if this too were in 3D it would have been better received as well. Unless of course the 3D sucked. While there's a chance it might not be as entertaining as VALENTINE, I do believe there's no way it won't be a better movie.

I'd argue Valentine is a pretty solid flick even without the 3D.
