Re: Gwen Stefani - Love. Angel. Music. Baby. [2004]
LAMB started out as Stefani playing around in the studio with some dance tracks and some of her producer pals. Her hopes were to quietly put out a dance album under the low-key moniker of 'GS'. Once she started building up a catilogue of dance/pop gems and with the encouragement of Tony Kanal she decided to go all the way with the solo career. 'What You Waiting For?' is one of Linda Perry's best tracks and is just how I like hearing Stefani outside of ND. That song was an anthem for me. However that was far from the only good track. Cool, Bubble Pop Electric (with Andre 3000), Luxurious, Serious, and Danger Zone are all wonderfully diverse tracks that complement Stefani's eccentricities. While I still consider her sophomore effort strong as well, nothing could compare to this Album of the Year Grammy nominated effort by my #1 platinum blond, Mrs. Gwen Stefani. 'Long Way To Go' is IMO the albums only misfire. Harajuku Girls and The Real Thing are rather weak too.
