Every movie is "artistic" by its very nature. We need to discard the idea of art as a compliment.

But can we please stop refering to Disaster Movie and Epic Movie as artistic in any meaning of the words?

You did not just reference Mean Girls and High School Musical in the same sentence

The irony, the irony! :funny:

Anyway, I really wish I could find more time writing reviews again. I've seen about 40-50 more films recently that I have yet to write any opinion piece on.

It's like Mean Girls, except The Plastics are a bunch of guys on an Internet forum being snobby over movies! :funny: I find it absolutely hysterical

I don't know whether to compliment you or feel sorry for you. Hahahah

Hey, you were the one who tried to join us and epically failed. Don't get all jealous and stuff now.

If we're the Plastics, you must be Janis, the not-very-subtle lesbian who wanted to join but was, like, totally too gay.

True story: Mean Girls is one of the few times where I got a phone call in the middle of a movie, went outside the theater and had a conversation.

Ouch.

I don't know if its good or bad that I'm starting to like the uber-asshole trixster.

Ever since I got that bizarre "Nicest Poster" nomination at the Poster Awards a couple years back, I've become determined to be as nasty as I can to everyone who annoys me.

Hey, it's the Internet! It's not like I'm gonna meet any of you people.

According to my records, every other member of The Snobs at least enjoyed Mean Girls.

Therefore, you are a walking epic fail.

Why? Remove the idea of the word "artistic" being a compliment, and what does it matter? You're merely stating a fact at that point.

"This piece of art is artistic." - That statement should have no qualitative measure in it.

I realize that, but:

So if I take a dump on a sheet of paper and call it a painting that would be art too? I mean what is not art then?

Art is any grouping of objects subject to aesthetic criteria. I think your dump-painting would qualify, and would probably be a smash-hit at the Museum of Modern Art.

Yeah, I figured the latter right after I wrote this.

"Art is the process or product of deliberately and creatively arranging elements in a way that appeals to the senses or emotions."

Epic Movie doesn't appeal to emotions and it is anything but a product of anything being creatively arranged. Hmmm, I'm still undecided.

Epic movie surely fits that criteria. As makeshift said, the label 'art' doesn't mean something is good. It just means it's art. You don't have to worry about giving it undue credit as such.

Epic Movie is creatively arranged. The act of creation at all means its creatively arranged. It just doesn't hold a high degree of creativity or originality. There's a difference.

EM is unquestionably art. It's a film product made for people to watch... no question. All films are art.

Alright, back to the Button smashing fest. This is bad. This is really, really, really, holy fuck what what what??? bad. Worse than Babel, let alone Crash and Juno. I'm shocked actually.

It's just a dull, lifeless, dead piece of work in every way. Fincher takes his goldmine of a concept and does as little with it as you possibly can. I think Marc Forster would bring more to the table here. Completley point A to point B events, execution, and results. How can a guy who ages backwards have the most boring life in cinematic history? I grew up with really boring old people... after 20 years of that shit I went to work on a tugboat... zomg... hey look I scored a hooker... woot... Oh look... my father the buttons guy.. whoops... death... aw crap you mean by tugboat best bud Bubb-er, tattoo guy died, I never saw that one coming... more people are dieing every day.. deep mediations... isn't it revelatory that some people just have to go sometimes! What a brilliant fresh concept! I love it so much I'm just gonna keep saying it! Now I'm going to hang out with my mammy for a while. Hey look it's that guy who got struck by lightning 7 times. We're gonna make the same cringeworthy joke SEVEN TIMES!!! MWHAHAHA!!! Hey it's Daisy... she's the most boring superficial self-absorbed slut/cunt ever... She's perfect!!! Beautiful people fucking!!! Oh no... I'm turning into a child... Dementia! RUN!!!

It's such a painful movie to be bored in because of Button's age tracker... it feels like I had sat there for 2 hours and it's like "Fuck, Benjamin still has grey hair! I have to watch 50+ more years of this? Dear god noooo!!!"

God it even looks shitty, I don't care about the digitial cameras, Fincher's mix of generic shoot it and a brown historical piece of paper palette made it a pain on the eyes.

WORST. BEST PICTURE NOMINEE. EVER.

1/5

Hopefully it'll recoginize us at the last moments. I love when babies exhibit recognition in their barely opened eyes.

I will say though that amazingly Katrina didn't bother me. The entire film ties itself to historical events so it only makes sense the present day one would to.

PS What did the clock/Mr. Goutens story have to do with anything? Was that supposed to be a Pixar style warm-up? I thought Goutens would have signficance later on but no. Wtf???
