 Last Chance Harvey
Last Chance Harvey Quote: Last Chance Harvey is a 2008 American romantic drama film written and directed by Joel Hopkins. The screenplay focuses on two lonely people who tentatively forge a relationship over the course of three days. Dustin Hoffman plays an American composer who loses his job and his position of father of the bride in the course of a single day overseas.

 Re: Last Chance Harvey
Last Chance Harvey is just so darn romantic - - I loved it!
I've had a crush on Emma Thompson since at least Much Ado About Nothing (tied for my all-time favorite Shakespeare film adaptation). And it's great to see Dustin Hoffman back in leading man role (how long's it been? 20 years?!?). They are consummate pro's and their acting is marvellously transparent.
The two of them together make the cutest "older" couple ever!
The script was a lovingly crafted headlong rush through the beginning heartstrong crush of love. I can't wait to see what writer/director Joel Hopkins does next!.
While watching it, I kept preparing myself to be disappointed - - not unlike Emma Thompson's character - - but Last Chance Harvey never let me down, it's absolutely delightful from start to finish.
Also, as much as I love a good ROM-COM, it's nice to see a pure romance movie for a change. Not that there isn't any laughter here, but it's the laughter of joy.
Last Chance Harvey is pure pleasure.

"Before Sunset with more mature characters" is an interesting description of Last Chance Harvey used in this review... (BTW, has anyone seen Joel Hopkin's first film, Jump Tomorrow (2001) as referred to in the above link?)

 Re: Last Chance Harvey
I actually saw it about three weeks ago and thought it was quite wonderful. Both Emma Thompson and Dustin Hoffman were great and had fine chemistry, and the story was simple but beautifully told. A-

 Re: Last Chance Harvey
I finally saw it Bradley!!!
It was about as sweet as they come. It serves no purpose, but to make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. It was a very nice movie to go see at the end of a stressful day.

 Re: Last Chance Harvey
Great news for Joel Hopkins fans - - his new film This Beautiful Fantastic is in pre-production for a 2012 release. It stars Bill Nighy and it's description sounds kinda like another Last Chance Harvey (which would be fine by me!). Quote: A contemporary fairy tale revolving around the unlikely love affair between a shy children's book author and a wild inventor.
