Easy question, no. There's never going to be a film everyone will consider to be the "bad ass motha'fucker of a film".

Not every person, but a good majority. I know someone who hates The Matrix.
Like PE said, there's always going to be one.

How about films made longer than 10 years ago? There are great classics you know that have stood the test of time:
Raiders of the Lost Ark
Star Wars
Wizard of Oz
It's a Wonderful Life
Casablanca
(off the top of my head)

I'd be shocked if anyone here gave The Shawshank Redemption less then a B-. I'd also be shocked if more then five people gave it less then an A- on these forums.

Haha! Of those I'd only support Jurassic Park, and not everyone is going to like that because some people won't touch action movies with a ten foot pole.
If there is going to be a uniform film of support (or nearly so) its going to have to be a comedy or drama, somethng pallatable to everyone.
Wizard of Oz is pretty great, so that was an excellent suggestion Mike. Othersthat were noted like A Few Good Men, are an excellent suggestion too.
Here's the hook line and sinker. If someone could provide a romance that has been widely viewed and well recieved, that might do the trick, even when mixed into a larger genre like action, etc. I'd throw out Romancing the Stone and Working Girl. But don't know if they've been watched by enough people to count.

Nah....I find it boring. Never wanted to see it a second time.
I propose Raiders as the one film everyone likes.
or Toy Story 2.
