'Say hi to your mother for me!'
LOL
Oh and Anne Hathaway did a pretty mean Julie Andrews. Must be from working with her in all those Princess Diaries movies.

Solid episode pretty much all last night. From the creep sister clip which was hilarious, to the Marry Poppins sketch. But the VP debate was the best imitation of the candidates so far. "What would a mavrick do"

Was a good episode, but still not great. Tina is of course the star. Queen Latifah was great too.

I finally saw it. I liked it better than regular SNL. One good sketch and weekend update, worked for me.

I watched it. I dunno... had mixed reactions.
The debate was pretty funny but for some reason, their Obama and McCain skits don't have even a quarter of the funny/smarts as they do with Palin skits.
Weekend Update was hit and miss. I'd say slightly more miss than hit. They needed a third skit. They kinda dragged Weekend Update over like 2 commercial breaks.

Re: Phelps, Lil Wayne to open SNL season
I think the only reason why the Obama/McCain sketches don't work as well as the one's with Palin do is simply because Fred Armisen is nowhere as good as Hammond and Fey are with their impressions. I like Armisen, but his impression is shit. That and Palin basically writes her own schtick so Fey and the writers don't have to do much.
I mainly liked the format, yeah the opening debate sketch was lacking. I read it was written by Jim Downey who is rarely funny these days. And Arminson's Obama sucks. Seth Meyers would be better or just hire someone from the outside to do it.

Armisen sucks as Obama, but the sketch was ok. I was in stiches when McCain was just walking around the stage, and the name calling/forgetting. The rest was lacking.

Re: Phelps, Lil Wayne to open SNL season
Armison's hit and miss with his impressions, his Prince is great, but I remember his Anton Chigurh last year almost single handidly killed the I Drink Your Milkshake skit. It's just slim pickings when blackface is obviously out of the question. I think that when Obama wins they should look to get someone new, or even higher a new player with the purpose of being him. I don't want to see Armison's Obama for the next 8 years.
The Sarah Palin appearance was cute, but Mark Wahlberg's cameo overshadowed it for me. I'm glad that he wasn't actually insulted by the skit. Gotta admit that I was disappointed when I read that.

Re: Phelps, Lil Wayne to open SNL season
Palin episode most viewed episode since '94 with 14 mil viewers!
So I watched the Wahlberg sketch again on NBC.com, and judging by the comments, most of the people seemed to think Wahlberg decided to do the appearance so he didn't look like an ass over the comments. I kinda figured it was all set up (between SNL and Wahlberg). What does everyone think here?
Personally, if Wahlberg was pissed (and I still don't think he was), I don't think he'd care enough to appear on the following Saturday's SNL with people he "dissed," nor would they have him on there just to make him look better.

I think it's a set-up... well, I'm basing this off the Jimmy Kimmel interview.

I think that was the first time I've heard booing on SNL (I can't remember if Sinead O'Connor got booed after she tore up the picture of the Pope). It wasn't awful but it was loud enough to notice it. I'm a little surprised McCain got it worse than Palin did.

Nothing much. It was the opening sketch with Fey as Palin and McCain as himself hawking stuff on QVC because he couldn't get the same airtime that Obama did. When the show opened with the two most of the audience cheered, but there was a small group of people who booed McCain. The same group (I'm being generous - three or four people booing loudly) did the same when McCain appeared on Weekend Update. I only brought it up because no matter who the guest is on the show, the crowd is usually polite enough to either clap or do nothing or it's usually drowned out enough so you can't here it at home. This is the first time I've heard booing since I've been watching the show.
Other than that and a couple of decent sketches, you didn't miss much.
