Hamlet is great and so is MacBeth, but I have to give King Lear the crown as far as Shakespeare's works go. Can't really think of a Batman analog to King Lear.

Perhaps the gangsters as a whole could be King Lear since their money and power was taken from them (although Lear gives away his possessions).

its clear to me that the next batman film requires a new original villain then, called the Givester.

Memento > Children of Men > The Dark Knight (all three of these are amazing) > Nolan's other work.

One thing I forgot to mention I like about this movie is that it sets up the third film perfectly to conclude what Batman Begins started, in the sense that by then he will conclude his journey where Batman will become the familiar Batman the rest of the comics and movies will follow. In the third film he will by the end have the Batcave, the Batmobile, Lucious will be cut off and Alfred will be his Q, and yes, hopefully Robin is introduced, if only as a regular man who at the end meets Bruce and they agree to work together. He'll also be on level ground in the city's estimation of his work. Rachel's death also sets the fact that he has no true love later in the series.

I just read your sig....awesome stuff :shades:

Here's how I see it:

TDK > BB > Memento > Prestige > CoM.

Though CoM and Prestige are really close.

Of course, all are fantastic films and in my top 75.

I agree with all of those. In that order.

Right now I would rank it Memento > TDK > CoM> The Prestige > BB... but again I have to watch CoM, and mind you, BB, again.

NO!

Why would he introduce robin just when Batmans getting established??? Robins supposed to come in when batmans falling behind.

Concerning Robin, didn't Nolan say that he was still "in a crib somewhere" during BB?

Anyone else disappointed by the score, they basically recycled the score from BB?

I didn't like how they handled Rachel's death when it comes to Bruce Wayne. It was one short scene with Alfred where he "mourned" and in the next moment it was business as usual. It almost felt like he didn't care that much.

While Gyllenhaal did a better acting job i would have prefered Holmes back in the role. It felt like another woman, even though everyone addressed her as Rachel.

I think that was pretty much my only qualm with the entire movie, amazingly enough. Aside from the obvious with Harvey Dent becoming unhinged, I thought Rachel's death was brushed aside a little too quickly.

The one thing I dont get is WHY ISNT BATMJAN SURPRISED WHEN HE SEES HARVEY??? For real...Bats going after Rachel was a total Bruce Wayne choice, I was expecting him to to "WTF..." and then we get Joker switched them...instead it just passes over it.

They screwed up in BB with casting Holmes. Had they only went with someone with more charisma and acting chops... In addition, i think that the whole Bruce-Rachel relationship bits were the weakest parts of the script in both BB and TDK. Some scenes had sort of an awkwardness to them.

True very few films would skip over that and just shows you how different TDK is from a typical blockbuster.

If that was Spiderman, you would have a sob fest for about 5 mins first.

no doubt, the destruction of Peter Parkers character was unforgivable, Riami has a lot of making up to do.
